As it has been 10 days since emailing the below complaint to Ravelston house with no response addressing any of the issue. The only response received was to tell us that they have forwarded it to a manager, that hadn’t been in the office all week, and that we hadn’t had any response until chased due to it being the Christmas period. Which is just awful customer service in my eyes and feel it is now completely fair to share our experience with prospective future customers.||||Will start out by saying the hotel does offer a lovely breakfast which we did enjoy in the mornings. The tall gentleman with glasses that served us (sadly no name tag) over the weekend was exceptional and gave a great service. ||||However our long awaited 4 night holiday (07/12-11/12) from the south of England was somewhat tarnished with the below.||||When we entered our room we noticed the bathroom door handle was broken and hanging off both sides. We reported this and were offered a different room to then find out one wasn’t available and that the handle would be fixed. Whilst this was fixed when we were out for the evening, whoever had fixed it had left splinters of wood over the bathroom floor and carpet in the room. ||||We were advised we needed to leave the key each time we left the hotel as there was only 1 per room. We had no problem with this however the wait time to get the key back in the evening was long, having to que behind those ordering at the bar and then the staff having to go and find the key to give to us. This was far from ideal after long days out.||||3 out of the 4 nights of our stay there was loud music/yelling & screaming till 11:30/midnight. While we understand the pub is part of the hotel and does hold evening events, it would have been nice to have been warned these type of events would be held during our stay prior to our arrival. On the night of Saturday 10th at just after 11pm, a very drunk lady tried multiple attempts to enter our room then proceed to have an argument outside our room with another lady. ||||Upon return from an evening out we had no where to park as the car park was over packed. We had to park in the vets next door. When speaking to the bar man about this and asking if this was ok or if the hotel had any prior agreements with the vets to use their car park, Instead of addressing the issue his solution was offering if we wanted a drink, at our own cost! ||||Later Sunday evening we noticed we had no hot water or heating, as this was later we chalked this up to the hot water having run out and that we’d test it Monday morning again. This was still the case Monday morning resulting in cold showers and not having anyone around to report this to, due to there not being any actual reception or reception staff. ||||Lastly the Kettle and coffee maker in the room were completely unusable. The coffee maker had mould in the water tank and the kettle has burnt residue on the bottle.||||Overall wouldn’t recommend the hotel or believe it is a 3 star like Expedia advertises it as. Not only did we have a pretty crappy experience, the way it has (or lack thereof) been handled by the hotel has been nothing short...
Read moreWell its safe to say I won't be staying again!!!||Upon arriving the pub was so full and to check in you need to stand queue at the main bar and the queue was huge. A member of staff said because it the queue was so long he would come and check us in and just to wait in the hall until he had poured a glass of wine for a customer. Low and behold nearly 10 mins later we were forgotten about so I ended up having to join the queue and wait yet again.||The guy apologised once we got to the front of the queue and very nicely gave us our drinks we ordered (I wasn't waiting in the queue a second time) on the house due to forgetting about us.||Next came dinner which we booked for 8. I'm only guessing that their kitchen is very small as each table got served one at a time and not in a quick fashion. We waited an hour to be served out meal. The dinner itself was nice but I could see other tables waiting the same time as us and the look on their faces said the same way we were feeling.||Now bedtime. When we got to the room we never sat on the bed so when we ended up going to bed that night the mattress rolled down at both sides of the bed. I lifted up the mattress to find that the bases of the beds were broken leading to the slumps. After complaining we ended up getting the bases removed from the room and setting the mattress on the floor. I'm guessing the beds could have been like that for a while due to how uncomfortable the mattress was even on the floor. The springs were terrible and crunched as I turned.||The breakfast was nice in the morning, no complaints there and was served in a timely manner as we were the only 2 eating...
