Dishonest billing practices, despite good steaks. Really wanted to love this place, the food was good, eventually…..we were asked how we preferred our steaks which we noted as medium, but once they arrived they were clearly well done, it happens, apologies were offered and we then waited for new steaks to be fired to the temperature we requested, some of the table had received what they ordered and were proceeding, so our dinner had become fractured, we eventually received the correct steaks, which were really good, but had to order more wine as the delay had extended our time in the restaurant. Once we had finished the bill arrived with items that we had not received included, we queried and the waiter went away, he brought a new bill in a new format, i asked to see the old bill to compare, but was told that was not possible! He told us he had removed the items we hadn’t ordered and given us 5% off by way of apology, because of the change in format it was difficult to see what had changed we took him at his word and paid, but upon close examination we noted the additional items had NOT been removed. We asked to see the manager, but did not receive anything more than an offer to credit £4 back for an order of onion rings, a real shame the good steaks were ruined by poor delivery and dishonesty, the bill was not corrected as the waiter had promised and the format had been changed to make that difficult to see. Read moreEditing my review here after speaking with the manager. So...Turned up after booking online to find the was no lift. My husband asked a member of staff if there was a lift and was told "no, sorry" and that was that. There is a disabled toilet which I found odd as this is inaccessible if I did manage to get upstairs. However, I messaged on Facebook and asked about why there isn't a lift and the manager got back to me very quickly and apologised and explained they had been debited planning permission to adapt the building. This is unfortunate but having an explanation honestly makes a difference instead of just feeling excluded. She also explained that they offer a carry out service and have an outdoor area which could have been offered but wasn't at the time. Now, it was pretty chilly so maybe an outdoor meal wouldn't have been ideal but again, it would have made a difference to have an option rather than just "no, sorry." I was then asked when I visited so they could speak to the member of staff involved as there was no attempt to assist with the access issue, but it didn't feel like a generic "yes, we'll look into it" sort of thing which was nice. Please may I suggest, that when you take an order over the phone, please don't say "Is that everything?" like they do at a fast food place, as I found it to be quite rude, you asked me after everything single item I asked for, "is that everything", this was not a very polite service when we were spending a lot of money for a special occasion, you could have up-sold even to support the business.. I do appreciate that you are busy. There were several items not available that I requested. If you never have them in (onion blossom) , then you should not advertise that you sell them. The non dairy desert was sadly contaminated with the dairy brownie (I hope it was that!) so I didn't eat it. I appreciate that you were very busy and the food was very delicious. Would only go for special occasions but be sure to check they have what you want...
