Visited the cellar yesterday as a party of three travelling 80 miles on arrival we were advised we had to pre book if we required vegetarian option which we did not realise when booking ,after explaining to server that one of the party required vegetarian he said he would need to speak to the chef. We were then advised there was absolutely nothing could be offered to the vegetarian as there was only 3 chefs in the kitchen and they were very busy leaving one of our party left sitting in a so called Michelin restaurant without eating. The restaurant is very small and actually there was 10 diners while we were there.we have eaten in many 1 and 2 Michelin restaurants and in comparison this does not come near to a Michelin category.
I cannot believe in this day that you cannot have a vegetarian choice without pre booking .in my view never the standard of a Michelin restaurant. The monk fish dish was the only dish that was good , many ingredients named in dishes but very tasteless food. What a bad experience leave one of our party without offering any alternative to eat left sitting feeling uncomfortable, Would never return to this restaurant it states on google review they are vegetarian friendly very...
Read moreHave been to this restaurant more than once since it opened and have to say that our experience this weekend was amazing.
The Restaurant is labelled as Wine &Tapas but it is much more than tapas. Scottish ingredients all "hyper - local"
A few traditional small items such as olives, chorizo etc. to choose from. A wider range of To Start plates and a few larger plates, fish, chicken, beef, mutton etc.
For us our spend was about £35 on food per person and 25 for drinks and we left feeling tipsy. (12 pints, wine and soft drinks).
As a local resident it is extremely disappointing that there are not more restaurants available at this standard with fresh ingredients and local produce.
So many restaurants have depreciated so much in the last few years as they turn to pre packaged lasagne and frozen chips.
Many places in Fife / St Andrews are aimed primarily at tourists--- they can be very expensive for mediocre food which is a shame as fife and Scotland have such great 🍖, 🍅 🐑 🥕.
The cellar is a breath of fresh air and has a good mixture of local residents, foreign tourists and...
Read moreOur first time at this restaurant was late last year, and it was amazing — delicious tapas, great quality ingredients, and even the Spanish chef came out to chat with us about food from Spain (which we absolutely love and visit whenever we can).
But this time… wow, what a disappointment. What happened to that fantastic tapas menu where everything sounded so good you didn’t know what to order first because you wanted it all? Now it’s no longer a tapas place — the menu is small and kind of boring.
We asked the waitress a couple of questions about the dishes, but she didn’t seem to know much — not sure if it was nerves or lack of training. The only things worth mentioning were the croquetas and patatas bravas. Everything else was either greasy or just badly done, nothing like the tasty, fresh dishes we had the first time.
On top of that, we found it pretty expensive for what we got.
It honestly makes me sad to write this, because the place itself is beautiful, and the village is lovely, but unfortunately, none of us who went for dinner that night feel like...
