I never leave bad reviews but I was absolutely appalled by the service we received today!

We sat for a good 10 minutes before we even got spoken to and we ordered Haddock & Chips, Kids Nuggets & Chips and my husband ordered ‘Buttery’ Baked potato with Haggis & Beans

When the food came, I was given Haggis & Chips. I politely told the girl my order was wrong and I ordered Haddock & Chips to which she replied ‘You ordered Haggis & Chips’. Um…. No I didn’t. No apology just ‘Ill get it changed’ Baffled to say the least since I had asked at time of ordering if my Haddock comes with Tartare Sauce and she had also asked if I wanted white or brown bread with it. Also my husband was given Baked Potato & Haggis. No butter and no beans. We decided not to bother complaining about that at the time because it was minor. The girl came back with my Haddock & Chips without saying a word and walked away. After she walked away I went to get my cutlery but there was only a knife inside the napkin. I also hadn’t been given bread!

I walked up to where she seemed to love to stand at the till and politely asked for cutlery to eat my food with and also mentioned that my husband hadn’t received beans and I didn’t have my bread. Again NO APOLOGY!! Just ‘I’ll go get them’ A good few minutes passed and I finally got my fork and then after another few minutes my husband finally got his beans and my bread came.

What a palava!!!

Once we finished I asked for the bill which seemed to take 10 minutes so my husband and daughter left while I waited on my own. Finally the girl came with the card machine and asked if I wanted a receipt. Of course I said yes as I wouldn’t have been surprised if my bill was wrong as well. No joke…: another TEN MINUTES went by and she never brought me my receipt but seemed to be folding towels or something.

I just walked out…. Will never return again and annoyed because the reason we chose this place was because the other chippy seems to be spoken about more and I like supporting smaller businesses.

Avoid at all costs. Luckily the food was nice, apart from my husbands baked potato being dry that he had to use the butter from my bread

Do better especially since there seems to be 4 chippys on the same street so there’s...

Went for a visit after hearing that they had won the best chippy Central Scotland. Wasn't sure if the restaurant was booking or walk in only so just made our way down. We walked into the front door to a busy restaurant being a Saturday night that's not surprising, asked for a table to be told no and that's it, that's where the info stopped. Is there a wait? "No" do you know when you will have a table "no" The poor girl looked like she'd been through the wars and didn't want us there at all. Had to pry any info out of her seemed like the only word she knew was no. Didn't even bother to point us in the direction of the takeaway up the side lane. But alas we made our round anyway got ourselves 1 fish supper and a single fish with a Mushy peas and tartare sauce. As we got take away I cant judge the quality of the batter and chips properly as we all know they suffer in the box on the way to wherever you plonk yourself to eat. My compadres fish stayed crisper than mine and both fish were fresh and very tasty. chips as I said can't make that call until I come back and try a sit down meal in the restaurant and get them fresh from the fryer as they always go a bit soggy in a takeaway box. The Mushy peas lacked seasoning some salt and pepper and vinegar would have made them so much better, also the tatrare sauce Wasn't so good either nowhere near enough capers and gherkins in what tasted like a very cheap mayonnaise. Not the best but not the worst but could have been made to feel more welcome in the first place just a friendly "I'm sorry we are fully booked tonight why don't you try our takeaway up the lane beside" would...

I can say for long time it's the best chippy in all great Britain unbeatable ((TRUE)) all food I have tried but today at back of 3 decided to sit in first time young girl long blonde hair told us 4 to wait outside 20mins later went back in young girl with dark hair did not no nothing about it but there was tables anyway Sat down and waited and waited gave up and sat out side 1 hour 30 mins later after waiting to sit down then deciding to get from side of shop 3 fish supper's pizza 🍕 super and all sides. But something was very very wrong fish was so thin not like it usual is and so over cooked not like this and had over 100+ supper's from what I thought was the best of the best I spent over 10 years in this trade so no what iam saying was the worst I have ever eating what has happened??? Hope you respond as just missed you at the ice cream shop where I said to a very nice girl she said she would say to you, "I hope this was a one off? From a concerned Scotsmanx (( thank you 😊 for your very quick response, very much appreciated, yes, I know what you are saying, but they have to understand product in all seasons and adapt like I had to with cooking but what I seen in shop and was served they looked not happy only one that served me was amazing she was so nice and understanding I said to her happy face...

Really REALLY pleased to have found this Wee Gem, I was in the village a few months ago and tried the chippy that was stated as the best on the block.....The Wee Chippy is at the other end of the strip and every bit as good . ( I'm my impression better) But you can dine in as well as use the takeaway entrance. Be sure to book ahead as the Wee chippy is not short of customers. My family sat in a warm dining area, and the bill for three meals with extras and hot drinks was £29 ..... absolutely chuffed bits and No Q around the block in the wind and rain that we had to endure at the other place. Don't get me wrong, I'm not slagging the other chippy, I just want to be comfortable and the food was served and the portions so massive all three of us needed take away boxes, so I guess we got a lovely sit down meal with a FREE carry out. 😁.. My family and I have now tried three fish establishments in Anstruther. The Wee Chippy is the best all round, and defo my first choice from now on. So, in short, after you've done the obligatory famous place and ticked that off your bucket list, go for comfort, which also has a takeaway and outside seating weather permitting.

I would give this minus stars if I could, queued for 45 mins which was ok because a young man came out to take orders in advance. I mentioned my allergies (dairy and egg) and was told I would be ok but I still asked him to double check, 45 mins later it was my turn to be served only to be asked if I had ordered the gluten free because the regular batter contains my allergens either (dairy or egg). I had not so was told my order would take an extra 10 mins, when I said I had asked the young man to check for me earlier the fact that they were very busy was thrown at me as a reply. I was well aware as I had stood in the blinking queue. However my fish magical appeared within moments. However I wish it hadn't as it was disgusting chips were like yesterdays warmed up and the fish was dripping in oil so bad that I took them back and did get a refund. For a fish and chip shop to serve this is disgraceful. We will definitely never return. Also be aware that if you visit their face book page and leave a negative review they will remove it and block the reviewer

Waited a while for two suppers which was fine as it was a nice day. I usually go to other chippies so thought I'd try this one. I wish I had went to the other ones because the food was so oily it made us both feel sick. Not joking I had to spit the bit of fish out onto a napkin and tried to eat the peas which were fine but could not eat the fish. It looked delicious though, one other thing was the batter made it look like it was a thick bit of fish but when you bite into it there was barely any fish inside it. Anyhow I decided after feeling sick I would just bin it, when I picked the napkin up it was oil soaked, now remember this was from one single bite of the fish. That's a lot of oil if one bite has soaked a napkin. Unfortunately I won't be back. Near £30 for food fit for the bin which in this climate isn't ideal. I couldn't just go elsewhere and spend the same again, not to mention being put off due to the amount of oil. Overall disappointing experience that I don't wish to repeat.
