Really REALLY pleased to have found this Wee Gem, I was in the village a few months ago and tried the chippy that was stated as the best on the block.....The Wee Chippy is at the other end of the strip and every bit as good . ( I'm my impression better) But you can dine in as well as use the takeaway entrance. Be sure to book ahead as the Wee chippy is not short of customers. My family sat in a warm dining area, and the bill for three meals with extras and hot drinks was £29 ..... absolutely chuffed bits and No Q around the block in the wind and rain that we had to endure at the other place. Don't get me wrong, I'm not slagging the other chippy, I just want to be comfortable and the food was served and the portions so massive all three of us needed take away boxes, so I guess we got a lovely sit down meal with a FREE carry out. 😁.. My family and I have now tried three fish establishments in Anstruther. The Wee Chippy is the best all round, and defo my first choice from now on. So, in short, after you've done the obligatory famous place and ticked that off your bucket list, go for comfort, which also has a takeaway and outside seating weather permitting.

The queue for the chippy down the street is there for a reason, go there or anywhere else! I hate leaving bad reviews but this place left me and my family utterly disappointed. First of all the menu just says "Fish". No idea if it's cod, haddock or something else entirely and no option to choose. Turns out the staff member we asked had "no idea" and disappeared to ask someone else and never came back. We were then given our "artisan" bread and butter which turned out to be stale, unfrozen, left out bits of sliced bread. Our food arrived with no peas and no explanation so we asked for them. The staff member then jumped down our throat to say they'd ran out. How were we to know!? During our meal however, the couple sat next to us and the family behind us got their peas so who knows what happened there. It's truly not worth it. Bland, chewy fish, rude staff and dirty coasters. We even had to chase them twice for the bill. Go elsewhere.

i'm not from here but this must have been the most unhealthy food i've ever eaten. anywhere. period. they deep fry absolutely everything including the pizza and the cheeseburger, no kidding! surprisingly, no deep fried salad, but then again salads are probably too much work altogether since the only food preparation required here seems to be to drop stuff into hot oil and not to forget to take it out afterwards. regular customers seem utterly unfazed by this and clean their plates, we had tons of greasy batter left. their management should receive kickbacks by the local heart surgeons, i think i almost had a heart attack last night. the stuff did taste pretty good though i must admit. and the girls who work here were sweet. and - a big advantage compared to THE other fish and chips house in Anstruther is the fact that here, you actually get your food on a proper plate and not in a cardboard box. 👍

I I have been following Wee Chippy on FB for over a year, and based on reviews, I actually planned my Scotland trip to include them. I hate to say, I was disappointed. I did the take away, and had to wait quite a while, but that wasn’t the problem. When my order finally did come they gave me breaded instead of battered haddock. Since the outside seating only has a view of a wall, I walked down the pier a bit to sit and was disappointed to open my package and find I had the wrong order. I walked back and they promptly replaced it with the correct order and the staff was very nice. It was a good size portion. However, I found the fish to be quite good but the battered coating to be extremely oily, and the fries were undercooked. Not a good experience at all. Guess I hit an off day.

The takeout counter is up the lane on the right hand side of the restaurant- not spectacularly well marked but it is there! I’m a creature of habit and mainly go to one fish bar in Anstruther - but me and a colleague decided to branch out this lunchtime. Naturally we had fish suppers which were freshly cooked to order. The fish was delicious, lovely taste and great texture. The batter in my view was a tad heavy (my colleague disagreed!) but this is minor nitpicking, and the chips wonderful. The oil was very fresh, chippy sauce was available (but maybe a bit thick for the east coast traditionalists like myself!) and overall the meal was very satisfying. I would recommend this place - it does very well considering the fish bar is very high in this wee town!

I'm sure if your getting a fish it will be OK. However the portion sizes are rediculous (half portion). If the quality of the other products on the menu are anything to go by Id skip and go to the well know chip shop further along. The sauceage supper I received. The sauceage was less than half the size of any chip shop I've ever been to. Normally there are 2 x large sauceages. These things were more batter than meat itself. It was like Asda smart price or something. Wouldn't recommend. Day trip out from West Fife and the only reason I didn't go to the other shop as it had a non socially distances 70ft que minimum.
