Id like to start this review jouney by saying that the food was great, it really was.
However, upon arriving for a double date with my wife and our friends, it was made very obvious that the wives were there for the boozy brunch at £40 per person.
The server was VERY welcoming and had the gift of the gab, making us laugh with his back and forth patter.
Our good ladies made their selections and he was off to make ready with mine and my friends orders still to come after a good 10 minute's indecision.
We flagged down another waitress to make our food orders (just us lads) 20 minutes later and we thought that would settle things, oh, how we were wrong.
Even though the boozy brunch drinks were brought out with gusteau and a flair for customer service, we soon realised that us gentlemen would be eating first. Out came our meals and sides and we waited until our better halves encouraged us to dig in.
It was only halfway into our scran, when we realised that no food whatsoever was to to be served to the rather more tipsy half of our double date, that I encouraged the waitress to come over to the table to explain that we were a half table short on the delectable goodness on offer and bartered for.
We had a reply 10 minutes later that there had been a mistake and that particular food order wasn't made apparent to the kitchen, who apparently were the ones cooking the food, more fool me.
The waitress was very, VERY apologetic, as was the waiter who took the order.
I will end this review journey by saying that the waitor supplemented the table with a round of shots on the house that helped to assuage our guilt at having finished our meals before our dearly beloved's food managed to arrive at the table to seal the deal.
We will of course definitely be back for another crack, as we know that the establishment is newly restructured and that our waiter was new and still finding his feet.
Perhaps some more 1-2-1 training on the food delivery side of things (he's clearly excellent behind the bar and with customers) and House of Fun will absolutely surpass the the standard already set by Jock's.
P.S. the food truly was...
Read moreWe booked ahead for a table for 4, there was a big table in for an engagement, x2 other couples seated, drinks were selected and delivered, one of said x2 couples complaining they had waited over 45 mins for food and no further offerings of drinks, they left before food arrived, it was explained that they had a big table and food was cooked to order, they left regardless, we said we would sit it out, nearly an hour later we were given our food, I had poutine loaded fries (chips cured cheese and gravy) it wasn't warm it was cold, my Huby had fajitas and it was cold, my daughter said her burger was Luke warm but nice and my other daughter had the Kirkcaldy fried chicken wrap and it was also Luke warm.. the sides of chicken strips and wings were piping hot and delicious but the cheddar cheese sauce was again cold, I had 4 chips n couldn't eat the rest I like my chips piping hot, it was all clumped together and cold, no waitress came and asked us if the food was OK, and apon clearing the table we were asked if we wanted anything boxed up ( having seen the food left I suposse) I declined, it's heartbreaking when we rarely go out as can't afford to and feel like I could have served hot chips and gravy and cheese perfectly at home, along with the other food that wasn't hot, I've never in my life left a review n to have my first ever be a bad one isn't good, it was an expensive meal and could have had a nicer one else where, I won't be back to this establishment again I'm afraid, !! X2 stars were for the wings and chicken...

With its cosy atmosphere, relaxed attitude, dog-friendly policy, comfortable seating and chilled music, Jock's is THE place to go if you want a decent meal.
The friendly staff provide excellent service, the prices are reasonable, especially if you're paying attention to the special menus on offer, (Wings Wednesdays being my personal favourite), portion sizes are good and the variety and quality of the food is top notch. Don't believe me? Just check out their vegan menu and you will swiftly change your mind, it's one of the best we've seen anywhere.
Jock's carries a small but excellent selection of cider and beer...the cocktail list is also a winner and don't even get us started on the desserts But do though :) and then give me just one more raspberry and pistachio waffle (I'll make it fit!...but I may burst).
Just when you thought it couldn't get better, it does, for on Saturdays, we dance! Saturday's in Jock's are a showcase for the talented resident Disc Jockeys, to rock the house and raise the roof, with musical talent like this what more could you need?
Special mention must go to Ross, the man who makes it all happen, whose hard work and dedication make Jock's Bar and Grill almost certainly the best place to grab a bite in Kirkcaldy.
Good music. Good food. Good...
