This evening I took my elderly parents my daughter and grand baby for dinner , I have been going a few weeks in a row with no issues till today, while awaiting table to get cleared my mum tried to signal to a waitress to see if she could clear table she avoided by going round another gentleman so the gentleman tapped her as she passed as he had saw my mother signal to her which she couldn’t have missed her reply to the gentleman was I heard her yes we were aware but you chose to walk past instead of a smile or reassure that your busy someone would get to us however another waitress came over and cleared the table and the young lad wiped it , my daughter ordered our food through the app we got our food mums macaroni needed a reheat and I was given no cutlery none of us had our drinks so I thought I’ll ask for cutlery when they bring our drinks dad was finished his dinner I’m still waiting mum had still to get hers heated so I went up and said to manager John who sent someone with a fork and he brought the drinks saying the girl didn’t bring the drinks cos the people at the table were being abusive to her not only were we shocked to hear this my daughters answer was we ordered through your app all the staff including the female manager was lovely the young boy was lovely and the waitress in the black and white dress was lovely but the tall slim girl in the dark needs to be trained in working with the public to go and lie saying the people at the table were very rude to her calling her a cow is disgusting if that were the case we should have been asked to leave this is the reason we were given to why we didn’t get our drinks !! Not good enough if she felt there was an issue easy solution get someone else to bring them like they did the manager John so dads meal was finished mine was cold and eventually got cutlery then mums had to be heated so what was meant to be a nice wee treat turned into a decision of we will not be back disgusted at the whole situation treated like that let me down terribly not to mention my mum and dad in their mid 80,s belong told that the girl had accused our table of abuse c as my daughter said even if that were the case it’s not right holding back our drinks till we had to go chase them up spoiled our night so all down to the tall slim waitress dressed all in black get people skills and hope she has a better day to treat...

Only giving 1 star because I have to. Went out for a few birthday drinks with family and friends on Saturday 29th May. Well I say a few drinks but we ordered through the app and finally, after 1hr and 10 mins, 2 complaints to bar staff and management, we finally got 1 of the 3 rounds of drinks ordered. By this time it was 9.45pm and due to current restrictions the pub was due to close at 10.30. Upshot was the manger came over 2 the table, looking alot more annoyed than apologetic, and told us we could only have 1 of the 2 outstanding orders and the other would need to be refunded because of the time. I know things take slightly longer everwhere at the moment but seriously over an hr to get a JD and coke, a bottle of cider and 2 bottles of beer!!! Totally unacceptable especially as the pub had significantly less cutomers as the time went past. The only apology we actually received was from 1 of the young waitresses, not the bar staff or the management. Will definitely NOT be visiting again anytime soon. There are plenty of other pubs in the area to choose from and the Puffer will lose all there regular customers and any new ones if they continue with the poor service and lack of understanding...

Seriously disappointed with the updated Kirky Puffer. The length of time it has taken to get served at the bar is ridiculous and it doesn't seem to be improving. The food is undercooked and cold. I was a regular customer before it closed for the refurb and have been back several times since it re-opened. Half the staff don't seem to have a clue on how to work the till and can't believe the refurb has taken away the optics on a gantry as this means the staff work slower to process any drinks order. The management need to sit up and take note, you have increased the size of the pub and put in a beer garden yet do not seem to have the fully trained staff that is required to ensure the pub runs smoothly and efficiently. Not sure who puts the staff rosters together but they need to ensure that there are more than two staff members on at lunchtime on a Saturday. The picture posted below is the soup with chunky bloomer bread that was served up to me. Firstly the portion size is poor and then I was given a spoon and fork wrapped in a napkin. Not sure how I was supposed to butter my bread with a fork. Another member of my group was given eggs that were not fully cooked. Pull your socks up...

Been coming here for years and recently intended to make this a staple of my week so I could meet up with friends and family over a small social meal. Unfortunately the staff didn't care that they messed up the order. We ordered items as separate dishes, ice cream (for me) and strawberries which one was to be given to a neurodivergent child but was both mixed into the one dish, while we did separate them, the little one unfortunately gagged due to the contamination of the ice cream on their portion of the meal (this was very much expected). When we complained, they didn't care and set that's how the orders are presented to the kitchen. Instead of taking it away and bringing out fresh strawberries for the little one, we were left waiting for another 20mins as it seemed they were going to do something about it but turned out they weren't so we upped and left and now look elsewhere to go.

Popped in 2 days ago after a quick tour of the charity shops. Place is next to the canal and main car park. Busy as with most Spoons but the place is huge so we found a quiet corner. Had the fish and chips plus classic burger. Both nice but the beer was even better! I was delighted to see Theakston's Old Peculier on tap so I had that while my wife had the Green Devil IPA which had a lovely aroma of lychees. We even came back for coffee after a stroll along the canal. Wondered what the building had been before and discovered later it had been a police station!
