we ordered a takeaway on new years day, but we were extremely disappointed with the quality and quantity of the food. since being taken over I'm not sure if the chef has changed or the new owners/managers are trying to save money on ingredients but the salt and chilli chicken was a huge disappointment, there was no chillies or spring onions it was literally just coated chicken, not like it used to be. The satay sauce in the chicken satay was extremely watery and the chicken was definitely not breast of chicken. The chicken chew main was as dry as a bone and the portion sizes were ridiculous there was approximately 6 small bits of coated chicken in the salt and chilli chicken and barely any chicken in the satay. Definitely won't be ordering again or recommending the restaurant to anyone...

Enjoyed a lovely family get together for my brothers 40’s birthday celebration.

The food was good and tasted amazing. We had the 2 course special for £16.95. The portion sizes I felt were on the small size but this was probably because it was the cheap offer we opted for.

The Five Star is a staple of Kilmarnock. It’s been around since time began. I love the atmosphere in the place. It’s familiarity is comforting in a strange way.

Outstanding!! Now this is what you call good food & a fantastic service. I haven’t came in here in over 10 years and decided to give it a go after numerous times being told by friends and family, I wasn’t disappointed the staff are very pleasant and have a lovely relaxed vibe the restaurant itself has the same vibe very cosy comfortable and relaxing! The food was just wonderful the chicken soup was so thick and creamy with lots of chicken.
