We stopped en route from Scotland to Newcastle. We were given a friendly greeting as we entered and shown to a table.We wanted a drink and a sandwich, we both choose the the mad hatters high tea.It was amazing, served on tiered platters.There is a wide choice of which sandwich, toastie or panini you would like, and properly filled, not just a bit of filling in the middle. A side salad too which was a lovely surprise.Big homemade scones with plenty of jam and cream on the side. They accommodated a full age range from children (high chair provided) to the more mature amongst us. The whipped cream was fresh and the coffee and tea were good and served in proper old fashioned china. Had coffee and walnut " home made " cake that unfortunately was made with margarine and not butter. You can taste and feel the texture of it.
