Moved to Fraserburgh in August but hadn't eaten out anywhere other than the Wimpy until today, when I visited to sample the Xmas Menu. The price was £19.50 for a two course meal or £22.95 for three courses, so not wildly over-priced in this economic climate. Had the Jingle Bell Beef Burger with brie cheese, cranberries and stuffing. The burger was cooked well, was a decent thickness and the toppings all worked well together. The chips were your bog standard frozen fries, which was a shame really. Does no pub hand make chips anymore? Could have also done with a salad on the plate too in order to add some colour. Not disappointed with it, just constructive criticism. My second course was Xmas Pudding. I don't like brandy sauce so they were happy to serve it with cream for me. I like Xmas Pudding most of all the Xmas food so devoured it quickly. Again, one slight bit of constructive criticism is that the pudding would have looked less lonely on the serving plate if it had been served in a bowl instead. Taste is what matters most though! Drinkwise I had a Cruzcampo lager. Not had it before but would drink it again. Came in a very nice branded continental style pint glass. The Saltoun Inn itself is nice inside. Of course the festive decorations were still in situ and as it was busy there was a bit of wait for my first course. I don't mind that and understand it when it's busy. The staff were friendly and I would eat there again.

I normally get to February and feel in need of a break as we emerge from the dark months. I would normally head to a more luxurious hotel and take advantage of a winter break deal but this time I opted for something else. I hadn't ventured to Fraserburgh or rather 'The Broch' as we know it here in the NE for 15 years. A friend whose family hails from the area had been reconnecting with her past of late and recommended a stay in this hotel. I am always sceptical of Wetherspoins. I don't like their owner or his politics and I'm wary of how cheap it is but I gave it the benefit of the doubt. The venue is in a historical building and the art work and photographs give a great account of the town. The room was spotless and very comfortable and for £58 for 2 I would recommend it. We ate lunch, dinner and breakfast here as frankly Fraserburgh has little in the way of places to eat. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. I'd certainly be open to another Wetherspoins if all were as good as this place. As for Fraserburgh, we got it on a beautiful blue sky day, the coastline is stunning but I'll maybe leave it another 15 years before I return

Couldn't get a table when we first walked in because all the table hadn't been cleared. I was served from a lady with a huge love bite on her neck. Waited over half a hour for our breakfasts after watching customers that came in behind us get served. My breakfast was missing 2 hash browns and tomatoes. They did give me an extra egg which mean I had 3 eggs. So on my plate was eggs beans and the smallest piece of bacon I couldn't see it. And it was cold. Went back to the lady with the love bite and it was oh well. Got my money back but no apology. Oh and the coffee machine wasn't working. Chips on the cups. I should stop now as I can't find a single positive thing about todays experience. See if I could give them minus stars for today I would. Very upsetting experience. Was looking forward to my Saturday breakfast. V v v v v v v v disappointed. Oh and the swearing from the staff when they spoke to each other. And the chairs will break your back.

Not a very good night, myself and 2 kids went in found an empty table through the back near the smokers door, straightaway noticing the table behind us had left 4 plates nearly full of unwanted food, not a good sign. Kids had ordered Scampi and Chicken Combo, mine was 14oz Steak and Pepper sauce, medium rare. Kids meals were o.k. chips not really hot and peas warmish, pea portion was enormous, obviously to fill the plate up. Mine was a nightmare, looked good but cut it open and it was raw inside, that went back, still no Pepper sauce, waitress brought it out, loads of runs down the side of the pourer and it was cold, that went back, came back along with steak which was now 1/2 the size but at least it was edible, and the sauce was still not hot, by now the kids were on to the pudding and I'm still eating the main course which is why I don't like to send anything back, but I could eat the original. I had put Mustard on the plate as soon as I got the meal served before cutting into it and when the whole plate came back it was just a yellow blob. Yes it was busy and the waiting staff did all they could but we noticed quite a lot of food wasted on plates as we were going out, surely a sign of a kitchen problem. The chips on all the plates were a touch greasy and the peas were cold but we weren't going to send them back for that. There seems to be a timing issue for heat if there is a busy period. Yes we will use Spoons again but hope this...
