Our Hilarious Hunt for "Crooks and Nannies" (It Was Actually Nooks and Crannies!)
My wife and I, on a charming adventure through Fraserburgh, desperately needed a delightful teatime stop. We yearned for a quaint tearoom named "Nooks and Crannies," picturing ourselves nestled in a cozy corner with steaming cups of tea and delectable scones.
However, technology had a mischievous twinkle in its eye today. When I searched for "Nooks and Crannies" on Google Maps, nothing popped up. A tad perplexed, I double-checked the spelling. To my wife's amusement (and my slight horror!), I discovered my phone screen displayed "Crooks and Nannies."
We burst into laughter! Visions of a tearoom run by mischievous nannies dispensing tea and cookies alongside a crew of, well, "crooks," danced in our heads. While Fraserburgh likely doesn't boast such an establishment (though it would be an intriguing concept!), our little misspelling certainly brightened our day.
The Real Nooks and Crannies:
Thankfully, after a good chuckle, we found the real "Nooks and Crannies." And let me tell you, it was every bit as delightful as we imagined! The staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We opted for a satisfying soup and sandwich combo, and the homemade cake we took away for later was simply divine.
Moral of the story:
Double-check your Google Maps searches, folks! You might just stumble upon a hilariously unexpected adventure (or at least a good laugh). In our case, the hunt for "Crooks and Nannies" led us to the charming "Nooks and Crannies," with delicious food and a...
Read moreWhat great little Cafe this is. This was my first visit today and its obviously very popular as its was packed full for the whole visit. I had a huge chunk of Toffee Cake and a Coffee, the price was reasonable and the quality was good, really enjoyable. I'll certainly visit again, a great cosy atmosphere in a very friendly cafe.
4th April 2018: Need to extend this review A bit; We visited Nooks & Crannies for lunch and it really is a treat. I had the Mushroom Soup for a starter which tasted fantastic and was really thick and creamy, done just right. Then a Cheesy Quiche for the main course which came with a selection of Coleslaw Dips, various fruits and vegetables, probably the best Quiche I've tasted for long while. Many more expensive restaurants could learn a thing or two from the Service and Quality of Food you get here. I couldn't resist a Desert after all that so I finished off with a Pavlova and Pouring Cream. Definitely will be returning here...

There is retro music playing quietly in the background and the decor is nice and cosy.
The ladies opposite me had ordered afternoon tea which they thoroughly enjoyed.
After eating my cake and finishing my coffee I had a nice chat with the owners who are lovely, you can tell they absolutely love what they do! On their walls they proudly display awards they have won and its easy to see why they have so many!
I'll will definitely go back the next chance I...
