What a gem of a place! My partner and I had just had a horrible experience in London the day prior and this was our first time in Scotland. We spent maybe a good 20 min looking up places near us to get lunch and finally decided on The Skillet. Both of us were praying it’d be decent. Welp, it was exceptional. The service was outstanding. The woman who served us was incredibly hospitable and friendly. We ordered 3 small plates for $30, the hummus, fried chicken, and lamb croquettes, and we split a steak sandwich and added two sides, a salad and truffle fries. Because everything was so good we also decided to get the sticky toffee pudding with vanilla icecream and that was also outstanding. Every single thing was amazing. We are from NYC and have pretty elitist taste from exposure to some of the best restaurants in the world. The food here was genuinely amazing and not a single thing was bad. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. It was truly a delectable lunch. Our bill was so cheap at $55. We devoured everything and were just so beyond happy for such a fabulous meal. Definitely check this place out for really yummy food and...
Read moreWe've been twice over the last few weeks, for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was nice enough but lacking... something. Breakfast/brunch, however, was very poor.
We are brunch aficionados so were excited to try a new place for brunch. The menu looked great so when I saw it at dinner I couldn't wait to come back for brunch.
All 3 of us had different dishes and none of us liked them.
The eggs benedict barely had any sauce and it didn't taste very good (or rather, it was tasteless/. The french toast also lacked flavour. The lamb hash didn't quite work, unlike the chorizo one at other places that are amazing for example.
To then add insult to it all, this place is joining the new trend of, by default, adding 10%, knowing people won't remove it. Service was fine but slow and not attentive. What was the 10% for? I didn't see it.
For 3, it was well over £15 more than what you'd get at many other amazing breakfast places in Glasgow. I won't be back, not until the 10% is removed and the food...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped in, the service was impeccable, setting the tone for an unforgettable meal.
The highlight of our starters was undoubtedly the haggis, which was a delightful surprise. Its rich flavors and perfect seasoning had us savoring every bite.
Moving on to the main course, the duck was a standout dish. It was cooked to absolute perfection, striking a balance between a crispy exterior and a succulently tender interior, all while being packed with a depth of flavor that was truly impressive.
The braised beef, another masterpiece, deserves a special mention. It was tender, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Every element of this dish came together harmoniously, making it a memorable part of our meal.
In summary, this restaurant exceeded all expectations with its extraordinary cuisine and outstanding service. It's a must-visit for anyone looking for an exceptional...
