The Ugly Duck — Restaurant in Scotland

Awful, only stayed for a short time due to the fact it was freezing outside.we attended as a group of 4 women on a Tuesday evening around 7pm. The barman evidently had no time for paying customers. We ordered coffees and were advised there was no milk as the delivery hasn't come that day. There was a newsagents selling milk 2 doors along, the barman seems never to have figured out there's more than one way to milk a coffee. We ended up going and buying our own. Sadly the barman continued to point out what he couldn't do as opposed to anything he actually could. The establishment seems more preoccupied with churning out JustEat orders, maybe that's why we were made so unwelcome. This meant the door constantly opening and closing as a stream of delivery drivers piled in an out. If there had been an alternative venue nearby or the weather hadn't been so horrific we would definitely not have stayed. The only upside is it was a warm place on a freezing cold night. Would recommend avoiding this venue if you want to eat and drink somewhere you actually feel welcome in. I would sadly say this is the worst level of service I've experienced in my life. Well, if i'm being honest. The staff were pleasant enough and helpful. After viewing the few online reviews, I thought it would be decent. My good lady went for haggis bon bon, and my starter was a little late let's say. So I had a nibble on the bon bon's as the good lady was less than impressed. Have to say the haggis had been destroyed and cooked to a pate like substance. My chicken wing starter that came a little later😉....was not my idea of a chicken wing. Then onto the mains, hunter's chicken and a caesar salad....the hunter's chicken was chicken topped with cheese ?? Maybe this is the way it should be prepared. But not for me. My own caesar salad was ok and I ate it all so I was content with that. But my other half was not best pleased. Never bothered with a dessert after that...As for the kids chicken, bit spicy for kids tbh, it was more southern fried. As far as a place for a few drinks it seems ok, good atmosphere and the kids get in until 10pm..some good karaoke singers...would go for a drink but...

Ordered click-and-collect as my partner and I only live a 10 min walk away from the restaurant. Order was ready MORE THAN A HOUR after the restaurant said it would be on JustEat.

While waiting in the restaurant, received little to no communication from kitchen staff regarding the progress of my order. Even once I finally received the food and took it back home, opened the bag to find a soggy and quite frankly tasteless chicken burger accompanied by THE WRONG SAUCE. 🤦

(Also the onion rings were absolutely dire.)

Its only redeeming factor is its poor waiting staff who remained professional and sympathetic during the long wait.

Overall a 1/10 experience. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again and recommend that others avoid it as well. I would request a refund but I would rather just forget the whole...
