Absolutely shocking behaviour from staff. Food was disgusting! Ordered a child's ice cream (from the limited items actually available), the guy that brought the ice cream over tried to be helpful, went to the kitchen to find out why we had been sent the wrong ice cream. The the BAD ATTITUDE stormed back in from her ciggie break (coat and all), argued with my mum over what my four year old son had ordered, stomped back off to the kitchen -SHOUTING THINGS back toward our table as she walked across the pub - to get a new ice cream leaving the previous on the table - to come back out five minutes later snarling saying "can't change it now he's trying to eat it". I told her he's 4 she left it on the table it was her mistake, so she fumed off again ice cream in hand! This time taking her time (clearly slagging us off in the kitchen - as another member of staff with a particularly bad attitude came out discussing the altercation with other staff behind the bar whilst staring at us)! NO APOLOGY from anyone other than a new girl working there called Ria who apologised even though she had not served us!
All this time the manager was sat drinking Guinness and eating and did not once get up to see what was wrong!
*note a party of 8 of us left on December 30th after spending over £150 - we went for food and drinks - out of the 6 things we tried to order there was only 1, we put this down to being ontop of Christmas. After being in there 2 hours the football came on, not realising we were sat under the tv as it had been turned right down - but needing a couch as we have 1 pregnant and two elderly people with us - the TV got turned right up to 100 - because the football was on. We asked them to turn it down as we couldn't even have a conversation and got told no as the regulars wanted it! I reached up and turned it down a bit myself to hear each other and they turned it back up with the remote from the bar. (Same said BAD ATTITUDE waitress came over twice - clearly not having a clue what she is doing - tried taking glasses with drink still in and plates with food still on from Infront of us as we were still eating.)
Appears unless you are a regular and they recognise your face - or you catch them on a bad a day the service and attitude it absolutely diabolical! As locals for a total of 40+ years - safe to say none of us will be back in here, and this has all come after a number of bad reviews from other friends and...
Read moreThe service and staff were great. The tables and cutlery were clean. I had the fish and chips my daughter went for piri piri roast chicken and a shared starter of salt & pepper mushrooms in a beer batter. The meals and starter arrived after a 10 minutes wait they were hot and well presented and very tasty. The mushy peas were tinned it would have been nice to have 'real' ones. My daughter ordered treacle sponge served with custard AND ice cream the waitress brought it over with two spoons and there certainly was enough for two. I found it difficult but was able to resist the temptation. All in all a very nice meal in a clean and friendly environment. Very reasonably priced, we had one starter, two meals, two sparkling waters and one dessert for just under £20. I Would recommend...
Read moreMyself 25 yo Male and My Mum 63 yo Female. Went to the Alt I order lasagne slightly burnt with extra cheese and salad, my mum ordered the gammon and jacket potato with fried egg. The food is mediocre but what do you expect for the price two meals for £9.95. Whilst at the bar, there is a sign requesting that customers be gratuitous towards staff as it brightens their day, I went beyond the 'please and thank you' it didn't make a difference, no smiles, poor product knowledge, microwaved food, glassware is poor, the cutlery is disproportionately large and unkept, don't expect to find cask ales or artisan drinks, it's the usual drinks for boring palates. The carpark is small, if you use the adjacent carpark in Lidl you...
