Review – 2 April 2025

We revisited this restaurant with my parents, expecting the same great experience as before. Unfortunately, it was quite different this time.

The Cornerstone Breakfast lacked the WOW factor that had impressed us previously. The portion sizes, particularly the beans, were disappointing, barely a tablespoon’s worth. After expressing my disappointment, we were given some additional beans, but it shouldn’t have taken a complaint to receive a reasonable portion.

For £104 for five breakfasts and eight drinks, I would expect better quality and consistency. Given this experience, I’d think twice before returning or recommending it to others.

A Perfect Start to the Day at The Cornerstone @ Dyson Place

I had a fantastic breakfast experience at The Cornerstone @ Dyson Place, and I can confidently say it’s a spot worth revisiting. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was inviting, and the service was exceptional warm, attentive, and efficient without being intrusive.

I opted for the Cornerstone Breakfast, and every element on the plate was executed with care. The mushrooms were beautifully cooked, incredibly juicy, and packed with rich, earthy flavor. The poached egg was absolute perfection, firm on the outside with a golden, runny yolk that added a delicious creaminess to every bite.

To complement the meal, I had a cup of their expertly blended coffee, which was a real standout. It had a deep, smooth body with a subtle burnt caramel aftertaste, making each sip a delight. It was the kind of coffee that lingers pleasantly on the palate, leaving you wanting just one more cup, so I did.

We chose to sit outside in the courtyard, which was a wonderful decision. The outdoor seating area had a relaxed, welcoming vibe, perfect for enjoying a slow morning. Whether it was the cozy ambiance, the friendly staff, or the delicious food, everything about the experience made for a memorable breakfast outing.

If you're looking for a place that serves high-quality food with fantastic service in a charming setting, The Cornerstone @ Dyson Place is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back soon for...

I never leave negative reviews but considering how many good ones this place has (which is why we chose to eat there) I thought I'd better pipe up. First visit for a much needed brunch date for me and my partner.

We ordered two vegan breakfasts even though we're not vegan, because it sounded nicer/interesting. The price was fairly high however the menu clearly outlined a large, elevated 'full' type breakfast. In spite of the place being pretty quiet, it took an incredibly long time to arrive, and then we were brought the wrong order with no explanation and not offered anything while we waited even longer.

When our food finally arrived, as pretty as it looked, the portion was so small we were both pretty disappointed. I paid £19 for a single slice of toast with half a tomato, a single mushroom, a tiny smear of avocado, a single poached egg and a very few beans and three tiny pieces of potato on the top - everything on my order fitted on top of the one fairly small slice of bread. The chickpea fritters were the size of two oven chips, not really what we were expecting and not a decent replacement for the large sausages and bacon on the standard breakfast or even for the two eggs and halloumi on the vegetarian breakfast. I'm really not normally fussy, but when I say it was disappointingly small! Finished it very quickly as a result and considering it was lunchtime by this point, we were both left hungry all day. I also ordered a decaf coffee for health reasons, however the second one was, I'm fairly sure, full caffeine and this was reflected as such on the bill which left me worried for my health all day.

We didn't make a fuss, but I did receive apologies for the mixed up order and delay and was offered one of my drinks for free, though when I went to pay they tried to charge me full price and I had to ask for it back down.

In general the service was incredibly slow and a bit forgetful and obviously something went wrong with our order. Hopefully they just had a bad day, but I don't think I'll be going back I'm afraid. I can't believe I paid nearly £20 for such a...

Popped into Cornerstone at Dyson Place on a sunny Saturday and honestly, the vibe was immaculate — think laid-back continental courtyard meets indie Sheffield cool. Tables basking in sunlight, laughter in the air, Aperol flowing like it's a bank holiday in Tuscany.

I ordered the Caesar salad, served with perfectly seasoned chicken (if you go for the meat option). The dressing? Just the right amount of bite. The croutons? Crunchy but emotionally available. Paired with an Aperol Spritz that was colder than your ex’s texts, it was pure lunch heaven.

Now, let’s talk about Val. Oh, Val. Friendly, attentive, and possibly carved from the same stone as Michelangelo’s David. I came for a salad and left emotionally entangled. Was it the Aperol or the sparkle in his eye? Hard to say. Tall, charming, suspiciously good at remembering orders… But let’s not make this about him — this is a serious review. (Although, if anyone from Attitude magazine is scouting Sheffield’s most eligible servers... 👀)

Do yourself a favour: book a table, bring sunglasses, and try not to fall in love — with the food, the atmosphere, or the staff. Cornerstone, I’ll be back. Probably every Saturday. For... the salad....

My meal was so lovley. We shared delicious breads with N'duja butter and rosemary olive oil, and olives. And for my main I chose beef serloin - (it's under all the crispy potato and onion bits!) And was so delicious with glazed baby onions wild mushrooms and a peppercorn and porcini sauce. I loved the flavours and textures of this meal. The soft rare beef with the crispy potato and creamy peppery sauce was delicious, I would definitely reccomend this choice! My friends chose other tasty meals such as pan fried seabass with sanfire, Korean fried chicken, and brisket burgers with rarebit cheese sauce that all looked delicious. 🍷The house white was also lovley! Dyson place was stunning at night. It felt like being abroad with couples and friends sat outside the restaurants under the fairy lights in the courtyard having drinks and I can't wait to go back and try more drinks and food here! Excellent addition to Dyson Place. Popped in here for lunch not having made a booking and although it was busy we were quickly seated. Just like Cornerstone describe themselves it is very relaxed and attracts a range of people and groups - some were working on their laptops, some casually dressed, others dressed up etc. Stylish and spacious set up, room for prams where your seated. Very accommodating of allergy, said most things on menu could be adapted e.g. to be dairy free. The food was excellent, good service

such a great brunch spot!! they managed to seat us for brunch on a saturday without a reservation which was lovely of them. i had the chorizo eggs and genuinely have not stopped thinking about how tasty they were. my friend has the cornerstone breakfast (think a full english style breakie) and she really liked it too, especially the mushroom and sausage). chai latte was great too! defo would return if i’m ever back in sheffield, would recommend checking them out!
