Really disappointing visit on Friday morning.
4 adults, a child and a toddler. We were the only ones in at the time of ordering and yet it took 20mins for anything to arrive.
Food came first and we had to remind them about our drinks. Once the drinks arrived, we had to remind them about the croissants for the kids.
I had the 3 cheese melt which was really nice. Heavy on the blue cheese but that suits me. My wife had avocado and tomatoes on toast without the tomatoes and with an extra poached egg. It was also nice, but very surprising that a simple egg on toast wasn't on the menu?
My daughter had an almond croissant which was the last thing to arrive, after the drinks, which again is confusing considering it's sat on the counter. This was an awful croissant. Very bready and not at all what was expected? It was more like a brioche.
The venue was very cold and whilst we were sat next to a portable oil heater, it wasn't plugged in. On closer inspection as to why, the burnt plug socket on the wall was explanation enough.
Overall, the venue was very cold, the service very slow and the croissants very...
Read moreThe bakery has now gone, and the business has rebranded itself as a coffee shop/cafe a few doors down. They do still sell the bread but it is high on a shelf behind the counter where you can’t see it easily. It was extremely busy with people eating/drinking and not a comfortable experience to just go in for bread, with most people mingling with no masks, which in the old bakery they had asked you to wear inside. Only one member of staff serving, so the manner was very rushed and uncaring. Would prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, being able to browse the bread at a leisurely pace, without people cutting in front instead of queuing. The bread is okay, better than supermarket bread but very expensive (£4.50 for my 800g loaf) and is often very oily. If you want a coffee shop then perhaps it gets more stars, but as a bakery, I’ll be...
Read moreI came in asking for gluten free bread and they said they didn’t have gluten free, but they had spelt bread that has no gluten but was made in an area where there is gluten flour etc. That was fine as I have an intolerance opposed to celiac, so I bought it trusting the bakery worker. I have been eating this bread all week, and have felt really poorly (tummy ache etc). I googled spelt bread and found out it’s really bad for any one with a gluten allergy and actually has more gluten in it than traditional wheat as it’s a hybrid of two wheats. This is really bad from the bakery as they should be aware of this information as I trusted them since they make/buy in the bread. This could have also been much more serious to people...
