Mamma Mia Pepe — Restaurant in Sheffield

I never usually write a review however, this place was so disappointing that I feel like the reviews need to be balanced. We went for valantines day meal and understandbly there is sometimes an increase in price for a set menu however, we were told we could not order of the main menu and if we did it would be £50 each to choose from there. This had not been said on booking and we heard another couple on a different table also saying they did not realise this would be the case. We added up the food we would have chosen and it came to around £55 meaning that there had been a £15 additional cost added due to it being valantines day. We said we didn't want to do set menu and after speaking to the chef the waiter agreed we could choose our mains for £35 per head.

Considering the usual price of the place it seemed slightly expensive but we were willing to give it a go. The food came and the starters were nice but then it all went down hill, the carbonara was all cream and no taste, I couldn't finish it because the flavour was lacking so much and it just felt like a plate of cream and garlic. My partner ordered the chicken pancake and over half of it was mushrooms which he didn't realise would make up the bulk of the pancake. The sauce was lacking in taste and generally the textures were bad.

The tiramasu and profiteroles dessert included only 2 profiteroles and one peice of tiramusu to share... The tiramasu bottom was soggy and overall lacked any flavour aside from cream.

The profiteroles (all 2 of them) were not great either due to being soggy, all the cream had melted out of them due to extremely hot chocolate sauce.

By the time it got to coffees were ready to go due to the rubbish food and average experience. I would not go back and I wouldn't recommend go anyone else I know either.

The waiter was friendly and kind but the experience was let down by the poor quality food...

22nd Aprol 2017 Appalling.....I made a booking for 32 people for a very special occasion. From walking into the restaurant the senior waitress was nothing but rude and arrogant. She shouted at us and was down right out of order. I nearly got up and walked out! She obviously couldn't cope with the amount of people that night although I had prebooked everything to make it easier for them as I was told to do. I made 2 mistakes and she was so abusive saying that if I didn't rectify it I would be charged for an extra meal. When the desserts came out she stood and shouted that someone in the room had eaten someone's ice cream. She slammed the food and drinks down in front of us and at one point she actually slid glasses across the tables to reach the other side. She may as well have thrown them at us. Apparently she apologised for been stressed to one of the tables but said nothing to my table. She needs to go on a course to learn how to deal with and be polite to people. She's dealing with the public after all and I can honestly say we are a mature group of ladies so didn't give her hassle. It's a good job she doesn't do nursing as the majority of us do. Then she would know stress physically and emotionally. She spoilt my special night and I / we will never return. I have to say after all that the young waitress is lovely. And so is the chef. He did a good job getting the food out. I think he either loses custom or loses the waitress! I know which I would choose...

Perfect hearty home made Italian cooking with such a warm and friendly vibe!

Went on a Thursday at 6:30pm and was already filling up and it’s easy to see why just from the warm friendly welcome we received.

Made to feel at home already we checked the menu and I ordered spicy meatballs to start, fillet steak Pepe and a bottle of red wine.

The meatballs we bang on, the sauce was out of this world and I had a tough job fighting the temptation of licking the bowl clean.

When the steak and veg came it was cooked perfect to order (medium rare) and was deliciously smothered in the Pepe sauce of cream, black peppercorns etc This again tasted amazing.

Bottom line is this place cooks you your meals with love, and serves it to you with friendly smiles.

It was so good we immediately rebooked to go again before leaving.
