Such a shame what has happened to Lotteās. The new owners are unfriendly, the cafe has lost all personality and has completely empty, undecorated shelves, making it very unwelcoming and boring. Now half of the outside seating has been turned into some kid play area (because the owners have their very young kids with them all day) described as āuniqueā which is a complete eyesore and isnāt unique in the slightest. They fired old staff the day they took over and the owners have also both left 5 star reviews for their own business even though that is not allowed on google reviews, which is very strange and not a good look for a business. I completely avoid here now but it makes me sad every time I pass it.
Edit to reply: your reply is extremely unprofessional and makes you look even worse, you are so defensive when everything I have said is true. You mention people couldnāt sit outside which is a lie, there were loads of seats outside under canopies which you have now removed. Iād love to see the source for ā99% of people are happyā, you canāt just make statistics up when you have no idea what a majority of people think. I know many people unhappy with the change. Also no mention in your reply of you reviewing your own business 5 stars, which is a really deceitful thing to do. Your reply just proves my review correct of how unfriendly and downright rude you are as owners.
You are calling me a liar? What exactly have I lied about? Everyone has their own opinions and nothing I have said has been objectively wrong, I have only said the truth and also my own opinions. You and your husband have both left 5 star reviews on here, which is actually against Googleās policy as you literally own the business. How can you not see how deceitful it is as owners to rate your own business 5 stars? I am not a competitor or a scammer, what am I supposed to be scamming by leaving a honest review? If you cannot accept bad reviews you should not be owning a business.
Hiding in the shadows? This is what google reviews is for, to review businesses. I gave my review to let other people know, obviously if I spoke to you, nothing would come from that, especially given how defensive you are. You have also not mentioned any ālieā I have told. You need to learn how to accept negative reviews if your business is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in the Nether Edge area taking a very good friend of mine to work on Good Friday. We were a bit early so she suggested we go to one of her regular haunts, The Nether Edge Cafe on Union Road. I am glad she told me of the place.
The first thing that struck me was how homely, friendly and cosy it is. It's like a home away from home.
Now it was Good Friday and being a chocoholic what do you think I was going to have? Chocolate!!!! I saw the sign for hot chocolate and that's what I asked for. Have you ever seen the episode of The Simpsons where the nuclear power plant was taken over by some Germans and they said "Well we come from the land of chocolate." Then you see Homer dream of being in the land of chocolate. There is another episode where you can see him say "mmmmmmm chocolate." That is exactly how I felt when I had that chocolate drink.
As a self confessed chocoholic I can say with full authority this was the perfect hot chocolate. It wasn't too hot or too cold. It was just right. It wasn't too sweet either, it was just right. The cream on top was light and fluffy and that chocolate powder on top gave me a rush of chocolate when I had it. It tasted divine. What really impressed me was when I was asked what kind of milk do I want? I am a vegetarian. That is customer service of the highest level.
I was in 007 chocolate heaven. I was truly shaken but not stirred.
So the usual questions.
Was it worth the money? Good value at 10 times the price.
Would I go there again? In a heartbeat! I'll make a point that I'll visit every time I am in the area.
Would I recommend them to anyone else? Of course. They have the James Bond seal of approval
What would I recommend the public to do? Go down and try the hot chocolate for yourself and experience the Homer Simpson "mmmmmm...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAmazing place! I LOVE it here. All the staff are so nice and they are still putting customers first, unlike other venues I have been in recently. I no longer frequent conglomerates like starbucks/costa. The coffee and brunch they have here at Lottes is the best. Recently some places seem intent on loosing custom by supporting rules that erode our freedoms, I will not go to these places now or in the future. I refuse to be treated like a walking biohazard. Hospitality venues need to take a leaf out of this place and remember the customer is king! Reminds me of Mr Charrington's shop (1984). Rememeber which places treat you well and give them your...
