I have been eating Indian food for 50 years throughout the world.
Without doubt, Chef Santosh at GT Road prepares the best Indian food anywhere, bar none - from the Balti Triangle in Birmingham to the bunny chows of Durban, from the Oberoi Hotel in Mumbai to the plush interiors of Manhattan, from London’s West End to the elite speciality restaurants of 5 star cruise ships. I have never eaten more delicious, authentic dishes, all made fresh from top grade spices and ingredients.
The Chicken Tikka on a sizzler cast iron server is tender, bursting with succulence and a mélange only possible from the hands of a master, putting other restaurants in the shade.
The Chicken Handi main course is a perfect blend of flavour and heat.
The naan bread is held in the tandoori just the right length of time to make it light, fluffy and crispy.
The only reason I gave four stars for atmosphere is that the beauty of the food deserves to be served in a room which is not affected by an occasional draught from the front door which opens directly into the restaurant.
The room itself is dominated by a fabulous mural showing the Great Trunk Road of India, as travelled by so many throughout the years, including famously the main characters in Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel, Kim.
I do not give culinary praise lightly as I am very fussy about food.

Don't waste your time with a takeaway unless they rapidly sort themselves out. My brother in law recommended this joint. But then again he doesn't know anything about food anyway. Open and check your order before taking it.
6 teeny weeny pieces of lamb for £11.95 - day light robbery with your pants down!!! Was also in a smaller than normal plastic container. At £11.95, I could of bought lamb and fed the family for a month!!!
I remember, once I went to my massis house in Croydon and this lamb rogan josh tasted like that. The taste was like some overworked auntie or uncle at the back of restaurant had boiled some lamb then shoved in a tomato tin and chucked a bit of pataks masala on top. Tasteless throughout.
If I wanted boring and tasteless food, I would of got my wife to make some masarah di daal.
The only good thing was the plastic container didn't leak.
I am sat here now thinking, what do I eat now.
Come GT Road - sort it out. Will be testing it again in a weeks time. Where I will change this to a 5 star review providing you sort your stuff out.
(BTW - this should be a 1 star review but didn't want to mess their Google algorithm so gave it a 3 - hopefully we can move it to a 5 star in a weeks time)
