La Reina Café - Trumpington Meadows — Restaurant in South Cambridgeshire

I really wanted to love this cafe, I was very excited for it to open, but unfortunately it’s a bit of a disappointment.

The upcharge for alternative milks is being dropped by a majority of cafes, but not this one! They also charge extra for decaf, which is something I’ve never seen before. Very shocking when you realise you have to pay £1.20 extra for decaf soya coffee , which sadly isn’t good.

The staff are nice enough, but none of them are baristas and clearly have minimal training on the coffee machine. It really doesn’t help that the beans used are cheap robusta.

So once you’ve paid £5 for a disappointing cup of coffee?

You have to go drink it outside, because the cafe isn’t dog friendly (which completely misses the mark for the area)

Food options aren’t great. Oversized dry pastries seem to be the specialty.

Not great coffee or service, asked for a double macciato and a latte. What was handed to me was questionable when i was given the drinks, the macchiato was not how it should be. Told the barista that it should be one or two shot s of expressos and a dash of foamed milk so instead of offering to make a new one she took back the drink and poured half of it down the sink asking how much would i prefer in the cup and then gave it back to me! At this point i gave up took the drinks and left. Shouldnt have to tell a barista how to make coffee and i will going back to my usual spot from now...

I love this coffee shop! It has a cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff. I’ve been there a handful of times and every time i am always greeted with smiles - I have seen a handful of people complaining about the lack of options on food/ dietary choices. It is sad to say the least they have no gluten free options but understandable, assuming their kitchen is small by the size of the cafe it wouldn’t ideal to serve gluten free options as it would be an even BIGGER risk to keep the non-gluten stuff apart from the rest of the food.
