The Shakespeare Inn — Restaurant in South Derbyshire

Went here for a stag celebration on 17th July 2021. Ample car parking, vast outdoor area for family party's. Would love to have sat inside but due to restrictions didn't. My experience on that day was very relaxed surrounded by friends, music & sunshine. The service by the staff there was brilliant & mostly prompt considering our party of 20+ was being taken care of as well as other patrons, food looked great even though I didn't have any & I didn't hear of any complaints either regarding the food. Very well run pub that day as far as I'm concerned as I'm sure it usually is. Thanks to the people who run the Shakespeare which are Diane & Mick with the help of Keeley, Holly, Reece & I believe another young lad who's name escapes me sorry. Just a great pub in any season in a nice location. Hidden Gem! Wow what a find. We booked a table here for an early Mother's day meal. We were the first people there for lunch, but others started arriving soon after. They had a good selection of homemade food on the menu. The lady who served us was very nice and explained various aspects of the menu items perfectly. The food was delicious and extremely good value. The chicken kiev was made to order and the selection of different burger patties was impressive. Plenty of old favourites like fish & chips, Shepard's pie, chicken curry to name a few. They have a kids menu and a sharing platters menu if you want something lighter. Part of me wants to keep this place as my little secret, but they have definitely earned this review and I look forward to trying other items...

This was my first visit with friends who live locally and as far as good pubs go the Shakespeare is right up there as one of the best. It has a warm, comfortable, homely feel like all the best traditional pubs should have and has a real family feel to the way it is being run. The staff are friendly, as were the clientele, it has sports on corner tv's that are not overly imposing, a well stocked and kept bar (the beer was excellent) and a huge garden area at the rear. We only had pub snacks which there were plenty of but apparently the food here is also very good so I Will adjust my review when I revisit and I will 100% be revisiting...what...
