Where to start I booked here for one night and oh my gosh what a dirty filthy old place to stay. I have to say one of the worst dirtiest places I have ever stayed. Booked in very friendly lady. Got to my room and there was a sign on the door saying. Has been deep cleaned. Well I was busting for a wee went to use the toilet the toilet seat was broken with bits of wee stained plastic sticking out the toilet had old dried wee and Pooh on it the sink was filthy previous occupants tooth past left in sink. Tooth paste splatter all over the mirror in bathroom and bedroom mirror. Mould on the shower head that bad I never used it. The shower head had not been cleaned for a very long time. The bath had cracks in it and there was a hole on the ceiling the drinks tray and kettle had not been cleaned they had tea and coffee drips all over them the carpet was not hoovered. I went to turn the tv on and had to pull the tv out as the Ariel was not in it. The back of the tv shelf and tv were thick with dust. Not been cleaned for at least a year !! The windows were filthy. And I had to open the windows as the room smelt musty. The only thing that was cleaned was the bed and sheets. Believe me I checked No way was I sleeping in filth. I went straight down to complain. The lady couldn’t apologise enough she sent head of house keeping to re clean my room. She came and found me after and could not apologise enough. To be honest I would of left and found somewhere else but there was no where else. I went back to my room the tv was still filthy and the carpet. But the bathroom had had a good clean. I never bothered using the bathroom my entire stay The place needs modernising It cost me 110 pound to stay for one night and I had booked the luxury room !!!!! More like nightmare room. The pub and food itself are lovely. But I really would not ever stay there...
Read moreThe bathroom/toilet is far to small , you can't enter or exit easily . The cleaning was not up to standard by any means . Bathroom was dirty also toilet , the shower floor stained with limescale , ( had to clean myself ) luckily a shop was within walking distance. Sink taps were soapy to touch and difficult to turn on and off, extremely difficult to fill kettle provided as water poured over the floor due to the size of the sink . The kettle provided was filled with black bits of limescale,( again had to clean as best we could ). The whole room is in desperate need of deep cleaning especially with regards to Covid-19 also could do with updating . Found so much dust in room . Was told breakfast was included , Was then given a 2 pint bottle of milk and nowhere to store it ( had to put it out of the window to try and keep cool but failed ). We was given a box of cereal a packet porridge and greasy over cooked chocolate filled croissants and an apple. Central heating was on so the room was boiling no fan or air conditioning and milk curdled. No information in room with acceptation to fire alarm information. know one around after pub closed for assistance and know information on how to contact someone for assistance. Breakfast was bought to room by staff member in the late evening 20.45 pm , when the door knocked we didn't get a chance to say to come in or not as staff member opened the door with key and just walked in , I was really really unhappy with this . Bar staff member very helpful on arrival. We stayed only due personal reasons, we would have had to sleep in car otherwise as nowhere else...
Read moreHubbie and I booked a room here purely so that we could both have a shower. We live locally and our property is on a private water supply which had run dry. Neither of us had been able to shower for a couple of days which is horrendous enough, but being that we were in the middle of the hottest weekend this year, it was even worse. So we ended up booking a room at the Sportsman just for some personal hygiene. Actually, we even told the person who took our booking that that was our reason for our visit and that we wouldn't actually be staying in the room. The whole place closed at 6pm but we had collected our key earlier so we could come and go as we liked. Firstly, when we entered the room (no. 407), it was absolutely stifling. The window was shut and we immediately had to turn on the (pretty useless) fan but even that didn't make any difference; you could hardly breathe in there it was so hot. But like we said, we'd only gone there for a shower which turned out to be so pathetic it was hardly worth it. The bathroom was dated and needed ripping out and was so small that it was difficult to move around, and we arn't large people. The shower is ancient and nothing short of appalling. If you were staying in Ivybridge because you wanted to hike across the moor every day, you'd be better off jumping in one of the rivers as the shower was no more than a dribble. Took me ages to rinse my hair. Awful. I wouldn't recommend, especially at £80 per night. Find somewhere else, you can't do any worse. We couldn't...
