I have few joys in life; one of them being, once in a while, buying coffee. So watching as someone, slowly takes my hard earned minimum wage, and procedes to produce, with no care at all, the most disgusting thing I have ever drunk, is quite upsetting. I think the most agonising part off this is I also make coffee in my part time job, so I know that what I was witnessing was going to produce... well whatever that was. A Few tips: When you do not clean the portafilter out from previously made coffee and leave some of the old used coffee in it, instead of producing "coffee" it produces a sort of brown bitter tasting liquid with some caffeine in it( this is because the coffee that was previously used get's burned ). When frothing milk the trick is to froth it so it's smooth and silky light, not just watery foam( which you do by holding the steamer in the correct height of the milk jug whilst you are steaming it ). I understand coffee is not a life time passion for the people working there ( neither is it mine), but making the thing you're selling drinkable would be great.
