It states this is disability friendly, however, this is certainly NOT the case, so, don't be fooled and left feeling humiliated like us yesterday. My husband has a very small mobility scooter which he can maneuver into small spaces. We went inside this place as it was too cold to sit outside and eat, we didn't go until 3pm when it was obviously quieter, there were three occupied tables, we went away from others, all to help staff and customers, my husband sits on his scooter to eat so it would be situated at the table and not standing in the way of anyone, but, as soon as we entered and before we could sit at the table we were told we couldn't stay.......health and safety apparently?! We weren't offered any alternative. So, left feeling angry and humiliated. Just hope the young man who asked us to leave is never disabled himself. We always use this pub when in Diss, admittedly usually outside, we have sat and had a meal inside here in the past though. But, even though we have met and made friends with people here we definitely won't return ever again. I am not usually one to quote disability rights, however, I have just researched this and apparently this goes against disabled rights, so, in future, I would suggest this place be very careful as they may one day find themselves in a sticky situation. I would suggest stating it is NOT disabled friendly that way they...
Read moreCame in and was told that theres not food being served for an hour, despite coming in for food we decided to stick around anyways and wait for it. Fair enough, Chefs on break. We went down to the back and ordered a couple drinks through the app, Woman, came down and told us to order through the bar rather than the app because they were short staffed. Again, thats fair, I understand the stress. However, when going to the bar to order drinks, Two of us got a soft drink because we were both driving. One of us got a madri and was ID’d appropriately, and one didn’t get a drink. She then told us that usually they dont allow under 18s without a Responsible adult. Keeping in mind werent getting alchoholic drinks ourselves, We simply said ok. But then she added a snarky ‘and responsible adults usually mean people with mortgages.’ I can understand stress from being understaffed, but that was just unprofessional . Last time i checked you dont need a mortgage to look after under 18s? We decided to not get food here and just to leave. Judging by other reviews this woman has a consistent attitude problem that she needs to work on. If we arent allowed to be there tell us to go, if we can, leave it be without the snarky comments next...
Read moreGreat setting for a summer's day lunch. Walked through the spacious bar and onto the lakeside patio on looked idyllic . The menu seemed interesting so we ordered the steak and ale pie, fish and chips and the macaroni cheese. It was here that the experience started to fall apart. glancing around we noticed a fellow customer growing more impatient since she had been waiting for 40mins plus and needed to get away for a prior engagement. With my beer in need of replenishment I went to the bar to find the landlady multitasking, in that she was trying to serve whilst talking on the phone to the brewery. We had been waiting 45 mins by now and the customer who had ordered just after us was also chasing her meals. Before long the steak and ale pie arrived and soon after two toasted sandwiches for an adjacent table. Another 10 mins went by before our order was complete. We tackled the land lady when she herself brought the meals but her excuse was one of being inundated that particular lunchtime, by our observation by the number of empty tables did not support her contention. Now all of this may just have been a bad day at the office but for us we won't be...
