Having had a good experience before, I was disappointed with the lunch. Having booked online 5 days ahead requesting a table inside with chairs rather than stools, I was left a message on the morning of the booking saying we would be on stools in the bar area. I rang to sort it out but it just went to ansphone so I went down. No responsibility was taken and I was told they only get to know requests on the day. What's the point of that?! Eventually I was offered a garden table which I accepted. On arriving for lunch, a table inside was offered and I'm guessing there had been a few cancellations as it was empty apart from one table being used. The two coffees were luke warm but due to wanting a pleasant lunch we didn't complain.Waiting for food the two women who came in after us were served and asked if they had been given our food by mistake. The waitress heard this and said ours was being finished of. I suspect it was sitting there as when it arrived the food was barely warm, infact my poached egg was cold. The waitress came to ask us if everything was okay and offered to exchange food but by this time, I had had enough. We ate and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlthough this is a great restaurant - BEWARE if you entrust them with a special occasion. A table was booked for a reunion 6 weeks before the event. A deposit of Ā£80 paid. Received a telephone call 2 hours before our booking telling us that they close early on this day and that there will be no lunch menu available. The attitude of the staff was shocking- BlasĆ© and couldnāt care less. āWell what do you want me to say?ā was one of the comments when I complained about the attitude. They lied and said a call had been made one week earlier,( a search of phone records showed they hadnāt.) We had received 3 confirmation emails during the week with 1 email even on the morning itself. We were left to scrabble around with an hour or two notice to try and find a venue which could...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThanks so much to the staff at Blacks Bistro! I didnāt realise the metro line was part of the rail strike area when I got dropped off at East Boldon metro yesterday, and not knowing the area, and with no buses available to get me to my onward destination, I called in to ask if they could recommend a taxi company to get me to the nearest operational Metro Station (Pelaw). Not only did they ring Station Taxis on my behalf, they sat me in the shade with a glass of iced water while I waited - (and the food being served to the customers looked amazing, Iāll remember Blacks Bistro if Iām back in the area!) Thanks...
