We wanted to get some ice-cream before the heatwave cooled off and set out for Sprinkles on Wednesday of last week. If you've visited Sprinkles over the last week or so you'll probably have had to queue, as we had started to. Realising that the queue wasn't moving much, and that there weren't any tables anyway, we decided to try out scoops just up the street. We got a table right away and tried to decide which of the many options we would indulge in, ultimately opting for a strawberry waffle and a fudge brownie sundae. The price was very good after the eat-out to help out discount was applied and we didn't have to wait long for our desserts. I was a little bit disappointed when my sundae didn't arrive in a sundae glass, but that complaint was mostly subverted by the generous portions and pleasing presentation, nevermind the taste! I'm sorry I hadn't taken a picture to show off what I enjoyed. The Covid precautions weren't great, although we were given a slip to put our details onto for track and trace. It was also pretty much impossible to distance as the main flow of people were going right past were we sat. We also got to enjoy a bit of row between strangers, amateur dramatics are somewhat defeated by face masks however. Recommended, although a little expensive...

I told the woman behind the counter about five times that I have a severe peanut allergy. The woman seemed to nod as if she understood. She gave me a list of the flavours that had peanuts in. I chose one that wasn't even adjacent to any flavours that had peanuts.

I started to eat the ice cream I'd bought (bubblegum), and three licks later, my mouth started tingling and my tongue started swelling. I had to take an Epipen shot and ended up spending the night in A&E.

They do not wash the spoons properly at all. Every flavour has been cross-contaminated. I've seen them, they soak the spoon in water for about 10 seconds, then instantly scoop out for the next customer. Heck they seem to only have one spoon.

Awful, awful place for people with allergies. Do not come here if you have any sort of allergy. It's cross-contamination hell. Don't let the "Inform the staff if you have any dietary requirements" sign fool you. They are not at all...
