I am thrilled to share my newfound gem of a dining spot—a Chinese restaurant that has taken a fresh approach to serving its customers. This innovative journey into traditional Chinese cuisine has made its way to Southampton, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
The restaurant's uniqueness lies in its interactive dining experience. Upon arrival, you're presented with an array of raw meats that you'll be cooking yourself. This concept puts you in charge of your meal preparation, adding a touch of culinary adventure to your dining experience. It's a departure from the usual restaurant setup and truly sets this place apart.
As you're given the chance to cook the raw meats to your liking, you're essentially becoming a chef for the evening. This hands-on approach allows you to tailor your meal according to your preferences. The restaurant even offers the choice of spicing things up or keeping it mild, depending on your palate. Whether you're a fan of bold flavors or prefer a more subtle taste, you're in control of how your dish turns out.
The thrill of watching your creation evolve from raw ingredients to a mouthwatering masterpiece is an experience to savor. It brings a new level of engagement to the dining process and fosters a deeper appreciation for the art of cooking.
This innovative twist on traditional Chinese cuisine is an absolute delight. The combination of interactive cooking, the freedom to customize your dish, and the opportunity to explore different flavors makes for a memorable and enjoyable outing. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a dining experience that goes beyond the ordinary. It's a culinary journey that's well worth embarking on, and you won't be...
Read moreA very different experience. If you haven't been before ask the staff to explain how it works or even, as we did, go for one or two of their ready selected options.
There's a large pan of boiling water which is placed in the middle of the table, you can choose what you want in the water, we opted for one side spicy and the other not. You then do the cooking yourselves - adding your veg, meat or whatever else you've chosen. Ask and they'll advise on cooking time for each item (most of them we had were 2-5 mins). Once cooked you dip in your chosen sauce and enjoy. Don't be put off by the pale colour of the meat once cooked (this is how boiled meat looks), as once dipped in the sauces it tastes delicious.
There are quite a few items in there you don't find on your average UK restaurant menus if you're feeling adventurous, but if not there are other items you'll be familiar with.
It's great fun and a real way to bring everyone together at the table.
Would recommend if you want to try something a bit different.
Decor basic.
Staff really friendly...
Read moreFirst visit here. Went with my son in law. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Quite a variety of different meats, some very strange to western palates, but a good choice of recognisable cuts. We had the Marbled beef which was served frozen and thinly sliced on ice. This was cooked in the broth for 30 seconds then dipped in the sauce. It's frozen for ease of serving and is absolutely fine. We also had prawn mash which is made into small balls then added to the broth for 2 mins as was the pork mash. For mash think of mince. The mushroom broth had lots of different mushrooms in. We also had a spicy broth which the server suggested we have milder, which was fine Served with Egg fried rice and a tiger beer. We went at 6pm and it soon filled up with local Chinese customers who were enjoying themselves. We were certainly full by the end of our meal. A great experience, just don't think you're going to a regular Chinese restaurant, it's an authentic Chinese Hot Pot restaurant.
Plenty of vegetarian options available.
Total cost for the two...
