I have been here twice in the last 6 months and both times they did not have what I wanted to eat. We decided to give them one more chance and arrived this evening to a notice saying they couldn't serve burger buns so if you want a burger it would be alone on a plate. They also had no sausages or ice for any drinks! LUCKILY because of our past experiences here we decided to choose what we didn't really want from the menu in the hope they would have it..... and they did!......RESULT!! Thanks to the wonder of the mobile internet I am sat in the pub writing this now.... and looking around I see holes in walls, tables with food left on them and the carpet looks like there has been an epic food fight and the Hoover has broken down!! The table (we wiped it with a napkin as it was still wet after it had been 'cleaned ' by a member of staff) is absolutely filthy and there are curtains missing from the windows completely! Let's see what the food we don't really want is like..... Oh dear! Don't be fooled!!! Fish and chips : £5.99 Codfather: £8.49 I had Codfather and the other half had fish and chips....for £2.50 more (a 42% increase in price) I would (as I suspect you would) expect a visibly bigger piece of fish....but NO....same size as normal fish and chips ON A BIGGER PLATE!! So I have paid £2.50 for 1 slice of bread and a little packet of butter.... and my wife got a slice of lemon....i didn't! So I can only assume that my piece of fish was from a stock of cod with fishy Royal blood.... perhaps a member of the fish monarchy.... the Codarchy even.... but I doubt it!! North Korea had a test of a hydrogen bomb yesterday and I can only assume that my royal cod was given a good thorough cooking in the centre of that blast at temperatures close to the surface of the Sun! So all in all..... if I could sum my visit up in one word it would be 'lacking '. Lacking in every possible area...... entirely everything in this dump is a disappointment and i shall never darken the doors of this place again and hand over some of my hard earned cash in pursuit of culinary excellence.... or even a decent pub meal! Serves me right for coming back again!! Never come here.... save your money! I DAREN'T GO...
Read moreNormally we have a great experience at this pub. However on our recent visit we were refused to be served with a glass of Coke because it was after 10:30pm and we had teenage children with us. We were a party of 53 people (mixed group of adults and children on a school reunion). We all ate at the pub and spent a significant amount of money between us on food and drink throughout the evening. I completely understand if the policy has changed (we have used this venue several times previously without these issues) however it was the way the situation was handled by the staff. When attempting to order a glass of coke (and I hasten to add that this was by a sober adult) we were declined as we were with the party. When the bar person was challenged she advised (in a very unprofessional manner with poor attitude and what can only be described as brash body language) that the manager had instructed her not to serve anyone from the party whilst half a dozen or so customers who were stood at the bar witnessed the humiliating episode. Not a single member of the party was drunk or unruly and caused no issues for anyone concerned. Safe to say that our quarterly event will find another venue to host us who will hopefully deal with us with a better business acumen....
Read moreThis meal was booked for a birthday meal and to say we was disappointed was an understatement and even though we arrived early at all times we felt like we was being rushed along to finish as quick as we could.
The table was sticky and not very clean.
Service was good from the member of staff that took our at the bar was amazing and went above and beyond.
Where as the staff member who delivered our starter came bit long after this and started to deliver our mains at no point was we asked if we wanted the mains it was just delivered and we still hadn’t finished the starter.
The mains was mix and match the gammon wasn’t sizzling as states on menu, the chips served with these they was cold and when asked for these to be changed a waitress rudely said “do you want these changing” surely it’s common sense to change summit was cold. 30 seconds later a new bowl came and these was piping hot.
The feel of this place has gone down hill in recent weeks as this used to be a great place to go where you was always assured that the food would be to a good quality but after todays visit I think I will give this place a miss as it seems to struggle with holding a large party along with serving other customers who are in the...
