The play area was good but there were older much taller kids in there. Not policed. I felt it necessary to stay and watch my grandchild to ensure he didn't get hurt. I ordered beef lasagna. There was hardly any beef and no lasagna. I did mention it but got no feedback. The entrance to the family part was crowded with smokers. Which you had to walk past to get in. The doors were not secure, little ones were seen escaping making it not a relaxed time for parents. I noticed this was the disabled entrance, usually these are elderly people, who then had to cut through the very restricted space to get to the adult area. The door release button was only on the exit also making this easy for kids to get out. Usually these places have a high door release button. Toilet space restricted, no child seat or step provided. It took a long time for food to come, this caused little ones to be hungry, when we asked if the children's food could be served we were told food would come out when ready. We were a big party and the adults who had no children really enjoyed it and their food was great. I feel guilty because I'm the one who suggested this place, thinking it would be safe and secure with good!!!! food. Sorry for the rant but won't be back, so not looking at money...
Read moreShocking service. We ordered 5 adult meals and a child's meal. When we had been waiting for 40 minutes for the meals (and seen others who'd come in after us with their meals) we asked the bar maid how long food would be as we as we had older children to pick up from school. She checked (with the kitchen?) and came back to tell us it would be five minutes. Five minutes later she told us that there had been a problem with the till and the till hadn't sent the order to the kitchen. There was no real apology and no offer to get the meals to us. We were offered a cash refund and my husband asked if we would be offered free meals as recompense but was laughed at! Customer service really poor and there was no apology from the person who seemed to be the manager. The place is quite run down in general as is the play area. Automatic doors don't work which was difficult with children and crutches user. Feel sad as it was our first time at the Black Bull and it was awful. Went to the Seven Stars which was lovely. I wouldn't recommend the Black Bull - the ad outside says 'no fast food' which is true - more like no...
