A great place to visit. Just out of the way from the hustle and bustle of St Helens. A grand building with huge outdoor space. I looked at going to the major pub groups for lunch but decided to come here. Food was absolutely amazing and value for money. It was well cooked too. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much bother. I can see why it has great reviews. Keep up the great work. See you again soon.

Bouncy castles, play area outside & soft play area inside! Lovely food with ample seating. Adults with no children can sit in another side of the pub/restaurant in peace. Only lost a star because the bouncy castles were in need of repairs or renewal due to holes everywhere. One actually went down due to system overheating! Other than this you wont find friendlier staff anywhere! 👍

Great meal, I had Steak cooked the way I wanted it it was lovely. We're a big family get together about 25+ of us everyone enjoyed there meals not 1 bad word. New owner so well worth a visit. Only 1 problem No Cask ale. But can work on that. Great out door area and indoor play area for the kids had to drag them away.

The play area was good but there were older much taller kids in there. Not policed. I felt it necessary to stay and watch my grandchild to ensure he didn't get hurt. I ordered beef lasagna. There was hardly any beef and no lasagna. I did mention it but got no feedback. The entrance to the family part was crowded with smokers. Which you had to walk past to get in. The doors were not secure, little ones were seen escaping making it not a relaxed time for parents. I noticed this was the disabled entrance, usually these are elderly people, who then had to cut through the very restricted space to get to the adult area. The door release button was only on the exit also making this easy for kids to get out. Usually these places have a high door release button. Toilet space restricted, no child seat or step provided. It took a long time for food to come, this caused little ones to be hungry, when we asked if the children's food could be served we were told food would come out when ready. We were a big party and the adults who had no children really enjoyed it and their food was great. I feel guilty because I'm the one who suggested this place, thinking it would be safe and secure with good!!!! food. Sorry for the rant but won't be back, so not looking at money...

Shocking service. We ordered 5 adult meals and a child's meal. When we had been waiting for 40 minutes for the meals (and seen others who'd come in after us with their meals) we asked the bar maid how long food would be as we as we had older children to pick up from school. She checked (with the kitchen?) and came back to tell us it would be five minutes. Five minutes later she told us that there had been a problem with the till and the till hadn't sent the order to the kitchen. There was no real apology and no offer to get the meals to us. We were offered a cash refund and my husband asked if we would be offered free meals as recompense but was laughed at! Customer service really poor and there was no apology from the person who seemed to be the manager. The place is quite run down in general as is the play area. Automatic doors don't work which was difficult with children and crutches user. Feel sad as it was our first time at the Black Bull and it was awful. Went to the Seven Stars which was lovely. I wouldn't recommend the Black Bull - the ad outside says 'no fast food' which is true - more like no...

This pub is so out dated it needs a face.lift the toilets are in desparte need of some attention they are so small and you can't get a wheelchair in them, there is a disable one but it's always locked . There is a so called clown that supposed to entertain the children he is outdated it's the same thing every Friday he comes ..I see there isn't many people going in because the staff are always in the kitchen are sat down playing with there phones the so called manager is a kid who charges the earth for meals that come to you cold in till you get your arsed into gear I suggest you get your act together and instead of over charging the regulars spend some money inside your pub ..it's lovely on the outside but inside is...
