Visited on a Sunday with my daughter, having booked a table. The setting is nice, with a lake/pond behind the restaurant, and parking is free, just add your reg to the iPad inside. The staff were great, can’t fault them really. The restaurant is a little tired, and I wouldn’t say it was clean. The table was sticky, as were the floors around the carvery. It’s off putting. The food was below average. There was a good selection of meats available, but the taste was bland. The veg was ALL very overcooked and pretty tasteless too. The gravy was good as it always is from a Toby, but very clearly a power mix. Yorkshire puddings, although nicely risen, were also fairly tasteless. My daughter picked this place for her birthday meal out as they serve Mac and Cheese on the carvery, but it is dry and crispy, with large tubes of pasta and little sauce. Had a Guinness 0% which was fine, just served in a can as it always is (with glass provided). Daughter got the make-your-own sundae, which she devoured. Definitely not worth the price I paid, and definitely wouldn’t recommend.

I visited the toby carvery Carr mill dam, I wouldn’t visit there again, I wouldn’t get a roast dinner from there again , Went to a table, what the staff told us to go to and it wasn’t done still plates and used folks and knifes there. So we sat there waited for them to go and then we got asked what drinks do we want, So I said to wash the table first so he did. Then he bought are drinks out so we went to get are dinner came back to no cookery to eat are dinner, So we got up and got are own then we eat are dinner, Not the best and then we just left after paying. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone Sorry for the rant but some thing needs to get done. The only staff what was nice was the one who put are food out

We visited for breakfast, 2 adults 2 children. I thought it was great value for money. However... the pub itself is very dirty/ run down! There was dirty cutlery, rubbish on the floors under tables. We had to look through the stack of plates to find a clean one to use for our breakfasts. The food deck was dirty, full of spilt food dried on. The help yourself drinks machine was dirty and looked like it hadn't been wiped down for weeks. Carpets dirty and freying and windows dirty. Just generally dirty and run down, needs a lick of paint desperately! Such a shame as it has a nice view of the dam, and like I said the food was good.

Toby Carvery Review: A Culinary Experience Worth Repeating

When it comes to hearty, traditional British fare, Toby Carvery stands out as a beacon of culinary excellence. My recent visit to this beloved chain was nothing short of extraordinary, so much so that I found myself returning the very next day to savor its delights once more. Here's a detailed review of my unforgettable experience.

Atmosphere and Ambiance From the moment you step into Toby Carvery, you're enveloped in a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like a home away from home. The décor is charmingly rustic, with comfortable seating arrangements and a cozy, family-friendly environment. It's the kind of place where you can relax, unwind, and enjoy a leisurely meal.

Exceptional Service The service at Toby Carvery is exemplary. The staff are attentive, friendly, and genuinely committed to ensuring that every guest has a wonderful dining experience. On both of my visits, I was greeted with smiles and prompt, courteous service that made me feel valued as a customer.

The Carvery Experience The star of the show at Toby Carvery is, of course, the carvery itself. The sight of the succulent meats being expertly carved is enough to make any food lover's heart race. Each visit offered a mouth-watering selection of perfectly roasted meats, including tender turkey, juicy beef, succulent pork, and flavorful gammon. The quality of the meat was outstanding, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor.

Sumptuous Sides and Accompaniments The accompaniments at Toby Carvery are a feast in their own right. The array of freshly prepared vegetables, crispy roast potatoes, and an assortment of sauces and gravies provided the perfect complement to the meats. The Yorkshire puddings were a highlight – golden, crisp, and wonderfully light. Each side dish was crafted with care, ensuring that every bite was as delicious as the last.

Desserts to Die For After indulging in the main course, the dessert selection at Toby Carvery is not to be missed. From classic British puddings to delectable cheesecakes, the variety of desserts cater to every sweet tooth. On my visits, I tried the sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate fudge cake – both were divine, rich in flavor, and the perfect end to a fantastic meal.

Value for Money One of the most remarkable aspects of Toby Carvery is the incredible value for money. The generous portions, high-quality ingredients, and exceptional service make it a dining experience that feels like a luxury, yet comes at an affordable price. It's no wonder that I, and many others, find ourselves returning time and again.

Conclusion In summary, Toby Carvery offers a dining experience that is second to none. From the stunning food to the warm atmosphere and excellent service, every aspect of my visits was outstanding. It's rare to find a place that makes you want to return immediately, but Toby Carvery achieves this with ease. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a hearty, delicious meal with family or friends, look no further than Toby Carvery. Highly...

We did the Breakfast with Santa on Christmas Eve with my mum and my two nephews and it was truly amazing from start to finish! We went around 10am and they were busy but that never faulted the service or food! We were quickly sat down and then I went to the bar to order our food. Santa came around the tables while I was at the bar but he said he would come back as one of my nephews was with me. He stayed true to his word and even retuned another two times! My nephew has a nut allergy so Kim came over and showed us the allergen form and explained that they would cook everything from fresh for him. I stated what he would like and soon it came out all piping hot - she even gave him fresh cutlery from the kitchen!

For buffet style, the food was always hot and being topped up and it was delicious! I haven’t rated some other Toby carvery’s in the past for the quality but this one has certainly changed my mind! Santa then returned and both of my nephews have autism so he was very respectful of this and the youngest one has overcome his fear of Santa! Thank you Santa (Chef Robert!) It was his first time but I do hope he does it next year as I will defo be returning!

When we had finished we went to the grotto and the kids got some goody bags, we ended being the last ones there around 11:30am (when it ended) but they did not rush us at all! £30 for two adult breakfasts, a kids breakfast and two hot drinks is amazing value - especially as a lot of other places for breakfast with Santa rack the price up and try and rush you within an hour! Thank you so much again to Kim and Robert for their kindness, it did really make my Christmas and for the kids, can’t wait for next year and will be back soon...

My husband and I went for a carvery today, we were left standing at the food counter for 10 mins before someone came out to serve us. We were given the dry ends of the meat, which had totally dried out, the vegetables looked disgusting as though they had been under the heat lights for hours, dried out and discoloured. There was no gravy so had to ask a member of staff if they could fetch some out, had to wait a further 10 mins for someone to bring it. Then to top it all, the sauces needed re-filling so again had to ask and wait. The food and service was absolutely disgusting, no food should be left out to dry up the way that was. The dry ends of the meat should be cut off and discarded, not served to customers. Also the staff should be checking the gravy & sauces and re-filling them, not waiting for customers to ask, and you shouldnt be leaving customers waiting at the food counter 10 mins to be served. Absolutely disgusting service and food !!

After reading your reply to my review, can I just say that there is no way your vegetables are replaced every 30 mins, the carrots were starting to discolour and the other vegetables were dried out. Also when I asked for the gravy you actually went in to get it, but came out 5 mins later with someone's order informing me that someone would be bringing it out. You later came back and I with other people were still stood there waiting, so you went in and got it. There was a little bit of gravy left in the pot, but not enough !! I wasn't the only person who commented on the food, the other couple behind me said it was disgusting and wouldnt come back. Your staff should be checking that everything is re-filled, not paying customers...
