If you want to go back in time to have a good dining experience don't look for a time machine, get into The Soup Kitchen. We have been with my wife and friends a few times and is always consistent in quality, service and hygiene. The English breakfast is made with the tastiest sausages and ingredients you will find. All cooked to perfection. Coffees and dinks also very well cared. Scones and sweets are also out of this time, as they were cooked by the tradition, very different from the industrialized products that you will find in other cafes and supermarkets. This is one of the few places in Stafford where you can still have the traditional Staffordshire Oatcakes. One of my favourites of the soup kitchen. Service is also excellent, friendly and professional at the same time. Staff is dressed in a uniform also that reinforces the idea of going back in time. The building is also a star. It is a listed property in my favourite town street, surrounded with plants and flowers. Ideal for your Stafford selfie.

We have been to many places, but this visit to The Soup Kitchen in Stafford just won my heart, right from when we walked in until the time we left. Our visit to Stafford was extremely unplanned, and since we live in North Wales, we wouldn't have any excuse to come to Stafford. But, we did this time for a friend, that's a long story maybe some other day. But here we are in Stafford, finding a place to eat before we go back to North Wales and our friend found this poster outside Stafford railway station about a 16th century eatery called Soup Kitchen. So we headed to Soup kitchen, which was 5-7 mins walk from the station. As soon as we arrived we were greeted at the door and we were taken to our tables and every staff we met along the way greeted us! We ordered our food, and the service was impeccable, so was the food quality. Extremely friendly and welcoming place and I would recommend anyone in and around Stafford to go there atleast once if you haven't already. We certainly will if we go near Stafford.

What a welcome - there was a queue for tables so we almost gave up but a passerby said it was worth the wait, and to be honest we didn't have to wait long as there are loads of tables inside, but all positioned in such a way that each felt like you had your own space. The staff were the friendliest and most welcoming I have ever experienced, they seemed genuinely happy that you had chosen to eat in their establishment. I was also really surprised that we could order an afternoon tea on impulse without pre-booking, and it was delicious! The bacon on the club sandwich was absolutely delicious, I really enjoyed the coronation chicken sandwich, the scones were to die for and the red onion marmalade was the perfect accompaniment to the cheese scone my husband selected. We feel so lucky that this was where we had decided to have our lunch and would thoroughly recommend this wonderful place.

A very disappointing visit. We have been many times and always been ok but on arrival at 12 noon we asked for a table for lunch for 4 making them aware that we needed to be out before 1pm. No problem. We had 1 vegetarian and 1 vegan. We were shown to our table and drink orders were taken. 1 fruit tea, 1 earl grey, coke and tap water. Then we ordered food. Unfortunately having only 1 vegan choice the chilli was ordered, along with a toasted bacon, brie and cranberry, brie and cranberry for the vegetarian and a all day breakfast oatcake. A further order was made for a bacon and stilton sandwich for a further guest. 15 minutes later after several people around us had been served who arrived after us our drinks arrived. The single order bacon and Stilton then arrived around 30 minutes after we arrived. At the same time we were told that the vegan chilli was sold out and would we like something else. There was nothing else on the menu. Sometime had lapsed when the server came back and said they had vegan curry in the kitchen if we wanted that. However, by this time the decision had been made that the guest would leave and find food elsewhere. Someone else drank the fruit tea she'd ordered so not to waste it. When the food arrived the all day breakfast was without sausage and mushroom. To top it all when we came to pay the cashier could not work out how to split the bill. All round a disappointing visit and new customers lost as my visitors commented they...

We needed a lunch venue for 3 of us, somewhere between North West Staffordshire and Birmingham on Saturday and after a couple of searches The Soup Kitchen came up as the best option. We found easy nearby car park (complete with EV charging which was a bonus) We entered the building and were greeted immediately on arrival and there was no queue. We were then shown immediately to a small booth, which was nice and cosy. The menu was very comprehensive and we were very much spoilt for choice. We had an iced green tea, pot of tea and a water while we decided. We settled on Rosti and Breakfast Staffordshire Oatcake and were not disappointed. We then visited the cakes on display at the entrance to decide on what to have next. We had lemon meringue pie and coffee and salted caramel gateau, which were very enjoyable. Having seen some large sundae glasses with straws being taken to other tables, we finished with a couple of chocolate milkshakes. All in all, it was a very enjoyable lunch and a great find. There were plenty of staff and we never had to wait long to get somebodies attention. It was a very popular place as was evident by how busy it was, even with it being a little out of sight from the main part of the town centre. It reminded me very much of a proper teahouse such as Betty's in York. We all enjoyed our visit and would definitely visit again if...

Found this lovely place for the first time today, while my car was in for its first MOT at the nearby Mercedes garage, by Stafford railway station. Following signs for Town Centre we came upon this place in Church Lane. Scanning the menu outside, we were greeted by (I think) the owner, who enthusiastically invited us in to view the place. So what, you might think? But this gentleman was REALLY pleasant, and we followed him in to find what a delightful place this is. First impressions, very friendly, very clean, tidy, well laid out, nicely decorated and WARM on a cold January day. Plenty of people in, tells you it's popular. We had no hesitation in being shown to a table straight away. Our tea was lovely, followed by breakfast choices that were really great and nicely served by smart and friendly staff. We then chose home-made scones (really excellent) and great coffees to finish. We don't often travel into Stafford, this occasion only happened because the Merc dealers closer to home couldn't get us in for the MOT test, but what a lovely outcome for us, and we'll certainly be going to Stafford far more in future, because this lovely eating house is more than worth the round trip of around 30-35 miles, maybe more. Well done all concerned, you are highly...
