My first time visiting Coffee #1 (Stafford branch) I went to meet some friends. All 6 of us sat at a table and we were just chilling playing cards. A waitress came over to say that we needed to buy something to stay in the cafe which was fair enough. We complied and one of my friends got a frappe and a flapjack and sat and ate continuing to play cards. My friend said after he got back to the table that more of us needed to buy food for us to stay in so I went to see the menu. I spoke to the same waitress and she said that all of us need to buy something for us to stay. Bearing in mind that two of my friends had ordered something before I got there and I mentioned this to the waitress and she said âstill there is only one person eating at the tableâ. I went back to tell my friends this and we decided to wait until my friend with my food to finish. So we continued playing cards, making no loud noises, no disturbances, just normal customers in a cafe. The same waitress came over again to say that we needed to leave due to the fact that no one else bought something. We mentioned that we were going to exit after he had eaten and the waitress said that he rest of us had to leave. We said that itâs unfair for him to eat on his own so she said âyou have 2 secondsâ which implied for him to hurry up, eat his food and get out. So we packed up and left which there was no reason for us to because it wasnât like we were occupying a table that could be used. The cafe was empty and we are mature enough to act sensibly in a public area. I donât know what the issue was but overall we were told to get out as soon as we finished our food. Besides this the setting of the cafe is very nice but a member of staff didnât speak to us like we were customers. Iâm sure if she was a customer she wouldnât of liked to be talked to like she did to us. Itâs just a shame that my first visit to this cafe didnât meet my...
Read moreWith a name like Coffee #1 youâre setting expectations ridiculously high before the customer has even entered the shop. Coffee was good, but not Brian Clough âI wouldn't say I am the best coffee in the business. But I am in the top one.â
Food was incredibly average and overpriced for what you get. Panino only had one slice of bacon in on, yet somehow cost over ÂŁ5. None of the panini were freshly prepped either, just plonked on display in plastic wrapping, waiting for whoever was hungry enough to pay over a fiver for them. Then, I assume, they were just stuck on a sandwich press until they were that overwhelmingly hot you were unable to taste any other flavour than your own burnt tongue.
We had 2 panini and 2 coffees and it came to ÂŁ16. A bit ridiculous really. I remained hungry.
Other than that, itâs a cool atmosphere and the cafe has a good aesthetic, mainly appealing to hipsters, university freshers and office plankton âworking from homeâ, as the myriad of charity shop books on the makeshift shelves at the back of the cafe suggested.
Overall, really wouldnât trouble yourself with a visit, but if youâve got cash to burn and you like minimalist portions, why...
Read moreI drove down to Stafford from Manchester to meet my mother, Nanna and nephews with my 20 month year old son. My nephews were trying to make the baby laugh by playing peek a boo, they were being pleasant and stayed at our table. One of the members of staff came up to me to say that they had a few complaints as some people didnât like the baby making noise. Iâm shocked and horrified at my experience at this cafe as the boys behaviour was fine, Iâm a primary teacher and I am aware of how children should behave in public. Itâs very sad that an older couple were offended at a baby laughing. My nephew was upset due to the staff members comment and heâs only 9 years old. I thought this cafe was suppose to be family and baby friendly but itâs not at all? Their clientele are tetchy and unpleasant. We wonât be visiting again with our family or recommend Coffee1 due to our bad experience. Itâs a shame that the staff member couldnât be considerate of all clientele...
