For years, me and Wetherspoons were at war. Not the loud kind with shouting or pint-throwing, but a silent cold war born out of politics — the great Brexit divide. Back then, I swore off stepping foot in one of Tim Martin’s pubs ever again. It wasn’t even about the food or drink; it was principle, pride, and a bit of stubbornness. But as time’s passed, that whole era has started to fade — like an old scar you stop noticing. The world’s changing again, and so am I. So I decided, after years of self-imposed exile, to walk back into The Bradley Green in Biddulph and see what it’s actually like in 2025.

First thing I noticed? There’s not exactly a buffet of café choices in Biddulph. I looked around before going in — hoping maybe for an indie coffee shop or a brunch spot. But the only other place nearby? Cash only. I mean, who does that in 2025? We’re paying for groceries with watches and cars are driving themselves, but somehow a café still expects you to fish around for pound coins. That was the final push. I tapped open the Wetherspoons app, stepped through the doors, and embraced my diplomatic return.

And honestly, I’m glad I did. The Bradley Green was spotlessly clean — not the kind of sterile clean that feels cold, but genuinely well-kept and comfortable. The layout was spacious, lighting decent, tables wiped, and not a sticky surface in sight (which, let’s be real, used to be a bit of a Wetherspoons stereotype). The staff were busy but polite, and the service ran like a machine — smooth, quick, efficient.

Now, the real test: the app. I hadn’t used it in years, but it’s basically bulletproof now. Ordered my food and drink from the table; no queuing, no fuss. The order appeared within minutes. Everything came out exactly as described — fresh, hot, and not over-complicated. The classic menu still delivers exactly what you expect: hearty portions, simple choices, and prices that make you double-check the receipt to make sure they didn’t miss something off.

I went in expecting to roll my eyes or feel smug about confirming my old opinions. Instead, I found myself actually enjoying the whole thing. There’s a comfort to The Bradley Green that’s hard to describe. It’s not pretentious. It doesn’t try to be “craft” or “artisan.” It’s just a solid, reliable place to eat, drink, and chill for under a tenner — something increasingly rare these days.

I looked around and saw all sorts of people: young families, retired couples, students on laptops, locals catching up over breakfast. It’s one of those social spaces that quietly reminds you what community looks like in a small town. And it hit me that maybe that’s what places like this have always done best — give people somewhere to just be.

By the time I left, I was full, caffeinated, and slightly amused at myself for being so stubborn all these years. The world’s moved on, and maybe Wetherspoons has too. Sure, politics is still politics, but a decent meal and a clean table shouldn’t be casualties of old grudges.

So, credit where it’s due: The Bradley Green delivered. It’s affordable, clean, tech-friendly, and — most importantly — dependable. In a world where even your local café refuses to take a card in 2025, Wetherspoons is quietly proving it knows how to adapt.

Maybe it’s time we all stop fighting old wars and just enjoy a good...

It's a Lovely pub considering most wetherspoons, and I've been in plenty of them!

Time wise it shut at 12 during the week and 1am over the weekend, you are not allowed to enter the premises 1 hour before it shuts if you try to go in they won't serve you and you'll be told to get out

If your standing anywhere past the first post on the bar, you do not exist you will not get served, if you want to get served you need to move and go to the other side

If you order threw the app, you can be waiting nearly 40 minutes to get your order most the time you cam see it and its just left on the bar, with the food its left under a heater so comes out nice and rubbery

The food is not great, and is now way over priced for what you get, and you can't buy anything after 9pm and on the odd occashion you can get something, god help you! you will get nothing but harsh looks till the moment you leave as they dont like to do their jobs and always close the kitchen early every day of the week

If you get charged for something and they dont have to item tuff and your not getting your money back either buy somthing else

Some staff are ok but 90% or the staff are stuck up, and hate serving the customers and regardless of what happens you get kicked out even if youve got nothing to do with it

There easy way off getting everyone out the building when they've had enough and want to go home is to set the alarms off so the loud noise makes everyone go outside then they lock up and dont let you back in, regardless if you still had a drink or not

There have been cover ups for fights in there and incomplete footage for fights and drug deals that have gone on they just dont seem to care about when happens in the venue

The manager and his wife are the worst, he goes around acting like he is better than everyone, and feeling up the younger female staff & his wife well she either doesn't know or just doesn't care i think spoons should have a shake up and get new employees right the way threw, it might then change and actually be a respectable place to go to that people would want to go to

OH I ALMOST FORGOT!

you never see bad reviews for this wetherspoons, because if one gets put up, you get barred from the venue for life and will bot be allowed to go in, that's just how welcoming and friendly...

I am currently living up in the hills of the Staffordshire Moorlands in a caravan waiting for my new build house to be completed. Biddulph and the Wetherspoons, Bradley Green public house is just a 10 minute drive away. I have scored this establishment 5 stars not because of caviar and champagne on ice, but because in the months we have been waiting for our new home Weatherspoons has been the ideal place for us to eat and drink. First of all value for money is excellent. It is almost cheaper to eat there than it is cooking in the caravan.... without having to do the washing up in a shoe box enviroment! The quanity and quality of food is really most acceptable. For £1.20 you can drink unlimited quantities of tea, coffee or chocolate all day long sat by the fire with a good book or watching the telly. Service is fast and friendly. Food hygiene is fine. What more could you ask for??? My advice would be if you ever have to live in a caravan for any length of time DON'T! But if you must pitch it close to the Bradley Green...
