Googled best pub near Alton towers for a cheeky bit of scran on the way home and this was showing as the best one. I’ve got to say I was very impressed with the service, however, the waiters customer service voice did sound a bit fake. Nevertheless it was evident he was very good at his job. Our food was goo. The starters were mediocre and quite pricy for what they were and the burger was a bit too greasy… but still presented very well and done to a high standard for a back street boozer. We did get chatting to a couple next to us about his kebab and he said it was horrible, but then said he was too polite to complain. We then observed a family also discuss their disappointment with the kebab. Overall, lovely little pub with a great aesthetic in the restaurant. Thank you

Superb food and local IPA, Highly recommend if in the area hiking or staying at one of the resorts nearby. This pub seem’s sleepy from the outside but when letting yourself through the door, you’ll find a bright and polished tavern. Great menu, friendly staff on hand, order at the bar, service is snappy if orders in early (before 7)…the feel of the restaurant extends somewhat into the bar which is where we chose to sit and enjoyed to have the bar in view and see people come and go. Would like to have stayed there later when the pub would have really turned into a pub and would have become more lively than it was. Alton is a sleepy village after all but I have no doubt the Bulls head is it’s beating heart late into the evening!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had and easily the best pizza I’ve ever eaten. Phenomenal food, and such lovely, generous and prompt service. An issue in the booking system had meant they didn’t know about our table for ten, but they immediately made it work and we ended up with the large upstairs room to ourselves. It’s not the cheapest place on Earth but the portion sizes and quality of food and service more than make the cost a very good deal. Also, almost the entire menu is (or can be made) gluten free, and when we requested adding prawns (of all things) to a calzone filled with onion chutney and Camembert, they were happy to and only charged an extra pound! We will be back as soon as possible. Faultless.

This is a lovely pub with cosy country side atmosphere. Interior is really great, it was recently renovated. I love the place, the staff is good too. You can't eat here yet but they starting it in spring. The only complaint is... They have absolutely delicious nuts which they sell lose but they cost £2.50 for a tiny carton bowl! Isn't it a bit too pricey guys? I think you should alter the prices as it's too expensive for snacks. Rather than that - brilliant. Haven't been for a while but it's nice to know that there's food in the pub. I think it's the pub with the best atmosphere in the whole area. Great to come just for a drink with snacks, feels so cozy in winter. I wished l lived slightly closer to it!

We decided to pop in for lunch one afternoon as it had been recommended by a friend. It turned out to be the release of a new menu that exact day so things were a bit up in the air but the staff were really accommodating. My partner had the pulled pork on flat bread and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the pizza but it was very crispy on the outside and bland, from the picture it looked lovely but i had to leave the outside of it. We had a side order of fries which was a very generous portion. The pub itself was nice and rustic but on a busy day I feel parking could be an issue. If it wasn't for the pizza I would of given 5 stars. I would most likely go again but choose a different menu option.
