Absolutely diabolical service. Ordered (separately) at the same time as friends. They got their food within 20 minutes. After 50 minutes of waiting we checked with the bar staff just to find he stacked the receipts and ours never got to the kitchen. He wouldnât admit this though. Asked for a refund instead because we had already waited long enough and were instantly refused. an hour is âa normal time to wait for food because itâs cooked fresh.â We were told we can either wait 5 more minutes for the pizza or wait 20 minutes to speak to the boss. Asked to just have it to go. Pizza is clearly cooked from frozen. Honestly tastes exactly like an co-op garlic pizza. Either way doesnât take an hour to cook. Staff were mocking us as we left. Didnât end up eating the food and over ÂŁ30 out of pocket.

Wierd ole place! Beautifully situated in a lovely valley next to a river outside Alton Towers. So you order food in one building, drink in another, collect your food, and eat it out of a cardboard box with your drink. Prices are far too high and the quality is far too low. I had the pie of the day, which was served with a pot of gloomy gravey and a tub of mushy peas. The pie was overcooked and powdery. My partner ordered a pizza which was simmerlar to the ones you get from Iceland. Overall the food was extremely overpriced and the food was very bad. Avoid! The drinks and service of the bar were nice and friendly, relaxed, and not overpriced. Cosy pub feeling with a nice atmosphere. Personally, I wouldn't come back. It's just not worth it.

Do not bother eating hereâŚPizza was AWFUL, really oily, barely any pepperoni, way too much cheese, really thick pasta sauce-like tomato base and stale bread. Kids bangers and mash had crispy, old mash. For the price of ÂŁ14 for a pizza, youâre better off going hungry⌠We were told the inside restaurant was fully booked (there was one person sat there the entire time we were here) so we had loads of tiny bugs around us, and on the foodâŚwonât be returning. Also, the toilets were horrendous, there was urine on the floor

Good food for an average price, very scenic outdoor seating which makes it very enjoyable. The indoor of the pub is well designed and has a cosy feel. This pub now seems to be owned by the same owner as the one next door, thus the only food served at lunch is from âthe hatchâ. Could do with some more bins in the seating areas to avoid people from littering. Outdoor seating is dog friendly and tables are well spread out. Staff are friendly, however it is basically self serve even for drinks.

Wow, I have been to Alton Towers hundreds of times and and never spotted this hidden gem. The location is perfect with a river, outdoor seating both in the sun and covered, with views of the castle, river and forests. Then there is indoor seating in a historic pub with retro styled booths, seating and ambience. The staff are happy, chatty and very attentive. The food was well priced, served quickly and very tasty. Great experience overall and definitely my favorite country retreat.
