Waited about 15 minutes for a burger to be cooked. My child had stared eating it, part way through he was feeling quite disgusted and saying something wasn't right with it. I took it from him to have a look and as you can see in the image it was completely raw throughout. When I took it over to the counter I was met with a handful of young staff who had little response and alot of vacant facial expressions and shoulder shrugs. I asked if a manager was available, as clearly none of them looked interested and between them struggled to articulate a sentence. Then a few of them started reacting by waving their hands about gesturing and commenting "not my problem" and "it's down to whoever cooked it". Now I don't work in hospitality, but common sense to me would probably kick in and I'd be apologising and trying to offer solutions after feeding someone's child half a block of raw minced beef, unfortunately i received more of a "what do you want me to do about it" reaction. Eventually a refund given and they started making another burger. When we got the next burger, my child opened the box with a gush of hot steam coming from it, continued to take a bite and it was rock hard. Again I had a look and it had absolutely no texture to it, it was a hard slab, completely over cooked. You only had to look and feel it to know they've just thrown it in a microwave for 10 minutes. In my opinion this was intentional and a very passive aggressive response to food being undercooked, a there you go we've overcooked the life out of this one for you! Once again I raised my very valid concerns and it was evident on their faces that I was correct when I said it had been microwaved. I was told this it what they are supposed to be like?! We decided to leave at this point, awful hospitality, very bad attitude to customers and quite frankly dangerous lack of food safety standards. I will be addressing this with merlin entertainment and the local authorities food standards. The only positive I have to mention is the cashier, I believe her name is Lauren (according to receipt) was brilliant, really nice, professional and helpful. She done everything possible her end, unfortunately the rest of the staff and kitchen supervisor were quite unhelpful and...
Read moreI don't like to give bad reviews but the food was terrible. After being incredibly disappointed with Tower Street hot dog stand we decided to try a sit down burger joint. We ordered a quarter pounder, fries and coke, a chicken burger fries and coke, onion rings and popcorn chicken. £20 for real nasty fries, a luke warm chewy plastic burger in the most artificial feeling and looking sesame bun I ever saw. 5 soggy, cold onion rings, popcorn chicken was dry, discoloured and over cooked!!! And a scabby looking chicken burger!!! I've come to the conclusion that Alton Towers DO do fantastic rides and attractions, street entertainment, excellent late night atmospheres during Scarefest. However Alton Towers do NOT do anything approaching quality fast food. If you want to eat at the park I would suggest a restaurant. We will give the restaurants a try next time before we completely give in and take our own food! We would suggest Woodcutters Bar & Grill where they serve what appears to real food, drinks & alcohol served to your table on plates! Or The Roller-coaster Restaurant - just remember to pre-book...
Read moreI recently visited Alton Towers on 20th August 2024 for my birthday and had an extremely disappointing experience at the Burger Kitchen near the Dark Forest. I paid £30.50 for two double cheeseburger meals, expecting a decent quality given the price. Instead, the burgers were comparable to cheap, frozen patties from a supermarket, both in taste and texture. It was obvious they had either been sitting under a heat lamp for too long or were just of very poor quality to begin with!
Even after returning the first set, hoping for fresh replacements, I received the same substandard burgers. For the price, I would expect something closer to Five Guys quality, or at least what Burger Kitchen used to serve. The self-service kiosks and reduced staff don't seem to translate to better value or service for customers. I even overheard other guests complaining about the food, so it's clearly not an isolated issue!
This meal ruined what should have been a special birthday lunch and left me seriously questioning the standards at Alton Towers. Very...
