Taste Of India — Restaurant in Stevenage

Ate at the restaurant for my Mum's 50th birthday recently as a family. Table was booked weeks in advance and there was a total of 18 guests. I am well aware it was a large group and expected some delays etc but we were waiting for food for over two hours. Half of our part had eaten their meals by the time others even had any food. My sister has a dairy allergy so informed them when the table was booked and asked for a vegan meal to ensure she could eat. The restaurant agreed the cater to this for her. Once we had ordered, she was informed infact the chef wouldn't do this for her and agreed if we provided a steak, they'd cook this for her. The steak was taken to the kitchen and never cooked. She went hungry and had to purchase a sandwich from a local shop as she was breastfeeding. These are only a few examples of the awful service we received. We tried to speak to them about the shocking service and was met with hostility. We recuctanty paid, minus the price of a few drinks (as we were being hounded to pay up, assuming it was fear they wouldn't pay). Just ordered. I am long time customer order the same thing every time Mr bags extra spinach medium spices chitin ticks Masalah this time only time Mr nags came tasting of oil loaded with spinach no space lamb was a few small fatty pieces even the chilli was different dish was not worth paying for. Tikka Masalah was Tikka Masalah soup no flavour colour was horrible so we know it's different chicken piece had black bits in was small pieces phoned and explained offered new dishes we refused and said we don't want more food. Please issue some refund they offered 2.50 not good for order over 20 I know the two guys I spoke to where not the restaurants usual manager as he is always lovely and a joy to order from talks softer and generally smiles.. if this is how they want to produce food and treat customers your ratings will drop and you will loose business leaving rise to competition . Never had a problem before this is a real shame all round I asked to speak to manager and they lied said he was out asked for names of the owners and the chef lied...

I have been known to eat in restaurants on buffet nights on my own as takaway is often too expensive in some cases. For the past few years since the Taste of India opened in the old town.( the one by Tesco extra) I have frequented it, both with friends and tonight I was told that they no longer offer the buffet menu to single people!, despite the fact I have attended this restaurant with many other people in the past. The manager informs me I should have been told last time. This is blatant discrimination to me as a single person and I have my suspicions to the fact I'm also a woman on my own.. The manager iswilling to risk a bad review and also for me not to recommend this restaurant to anyone. Also the old town is thriving with other business and the restaurant is frequently empty .They could do with any business. Single people take note !!
