Review: Disappointing Experience at The Station House
My wife and I arrived at The Station House with our 18-month-old daughter, hoping to try their Sunday roast. We arrived around 11:15 a.m. and were told that food wouldn’t be served until 12 p.m. That was perfectly fine, and we were happy to wait while enjoying a coffee.
We were told we could sit anywhere, so we chose a table near the bar. However, as midday arrived, we were informed that the kitchen was fully booked and that only bar snacks and drinks were available. This was quite disappointing, especially as the pub was quiet with only one other table occupied.
As locals, we had really hoped to experience a warm welcome and get a feel for what could have been our new go-to Sunday spot. Instead, the atmosphere felt rather cold, and the staff seemed more focused on how the day ahead might unfold than on serving the customers who were already there.

After almost an hour of waiting, I ended up eating a cold lamb simply because I was hungry. The prices are on the expensive side, which makes it even more disappointing.
The interior looks great, but the atmosphere didn’t really hit — probably because we spent most of the time just waiting for food on a quiet Wednesday afternoon when the place clearly...

The Yorkshire pudding was rock hard and stone cold, and the pork which was advertised as being served with stuffing rolled inside, arrived without it. The waiter then informed us that there was no stuffing available, even though the chicken dish included it, so it felt like a bit of a missed opportunity to offer it on the side as a substitute.
For dessert, I ordered the blackberry and apple crumble, which was advertised as being served with custard, but it came with just a small dollop of ice cream instead.
Despite this, the level of service and the overall atmosphere at The Station House were exceptional. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the setting itself is lovely. Hopefully, when I return, the food experience will match the great service...
