My wife ordered some food over the phone. Today was Mother’s Day and we decided to celebrate by ordering some food from a restaurant which appears to be well spoken of. However, upon receiving the food me and my family are thoroughly disappointed with both the food and customer service we received. Firstly, when arriving, the delivery man didn’t carry the correct change which my daughter in response told him to keep the change as there was nothing else to really do if we didn’t have any spare change lying around. The man told us to come to the restaurant for the change next time. When we opened the bag we discovered that they had completely missed out one of the items we had ordered, and charged it for us too. When we tried contacting Vedaa for this he told my wife that they hadn’t charged us for the missed out item and then abruptly hung up the call and after this (with many different phones) we couldn’t get through to them so I had to literally drive to this restaurant to inquire about my missing and charged item. After I calmly asked about the missing food, the man at the till kept insisting that we didn’t order in the first place and then the staff seemed to be blaming each other for someone’s stupidity and asked me to wait for 5 minutes so they could make the missed item for me. I said no as at this point I was in an unpleasant mood and unwilling to wait and let it go. I asked my change of £9 and returned home. Will not be ordering again as I am extremely unhappy with how this was handled. Completely unhappy with the...
Read moreGenuinely cannot understand all of these good reviews, a lot of them are so obviously fake as after I done my review, five star reviews referencing the groupon suddenly appear. Couldn’t be further from our experience, went on a groupon and just handed a very confusing menu, nothing was explained to us until we asked. After being there for 10 minutes we had to ask to order drinks, 25 minutes later still no drinks. Clearing away tables instead which didn’t need doing, there’s being short staffed and then there’s just doing things that can wait until you’ve sorted out customers drinks. So we ask again and get served warm beer. Asked to swap it for a wine which again we had to ask for after it hadn’t come after 20 minutes, to get served about 2 sips worth of wine. When taking away our starter plates, asked if we wanted to keep the same cutlery or get new cutlery, we didn’t really answer as were surprised at the question, to which she took the dirty cutlery off the plates and gave them back to us to reuse. Left most of the chicken curry as some of it definitely didn’t look cooked but at this point we just wanted to hurry up and leave. Table next to us saying the same things. Brought the tarka daal out 20 minutes after finished mains. Just bad from the start, shockingly bad service. Some of the food quite nice but nothing great. Will not be returning, all the tables around us were...
Read moreWow, this place is seriously good. Apparently the chef here is ex-Dishoom Covent Garden which would explain a lot. If anyone doesn’t know Dishoom, it’s literally the Bentley Convertible of curry houses - at least outside India anyway. We’ve got the Dishoom cookbook at home and if you follow it to the letter (and take a day off work), your mind will be blown. The Vedaa food tasted like it had proper time, care and skill put into it.
Unlike bog standard curry houses around Manchester that have a menu of 300 dishes all using the same slightly modified sauce base for every dish, the Vedaa menu is small which instantly tells you all the dishes will be individually cooked and have their own unique character. This was certainly true. We had the lamb chops for starter and Sali Botti and the Saag Lamb for mains and they were all rich, interesting, deep and delicious. Ice cold Kingfisher beer accompanying too! We also ended up having a chat with the chef after and he was a lovely guy. From New Delhi originally.
Within a few days of opening Vedaa is already the buzz of Cheadle amongst people we know and that’s a genuine sign that a restaurant is making all the right moves. Speaking as extensive travellers to India and someone who’s grandfather was born there, in our experience Vedaa is a truly lovely, thoughtful and super delicious authentic Indian food restaurant not...
