If you're thinking of cheating on your regular, don't bother!
Placed the order at 17:50, and the food came at 19:52 - eventually, I got fed up of waiting, so attempted to call, nobody answered the phone, calls were diverted. Eventually got through, same old "sorry, we're really busy" - yet still taking orders! Said 50 min delivery, still said 50 mins delivery when I checked!
Food came, mostly cold! Clearly been on multiple deliveries on the way!
I had kung po chicken, cold, but tasted nice, although very greasy, good couple of mm of oil on the top of the sauce, and the meat was a weird colour due to the sauce. Cooked I'd like to add, just a weird red / purple colour from the sauce.
The salt and pepper chicken was cold, chips were just chips with no seasoning, and the salt and pepper chicken looked like the batter that fell off the chicken! The biggest piece, I've pictured against my thumb for scale, and there wasn't much chicken in there, see pic.
The soup, was mainly a giant mushroom and tastless!
The chicken balls were tiny, and the inner batter still sloppy! We like chicken balls, and get that they're not crisp through, but these were still like a paste / uncooked batter texture.
All in all, not a great experience, and one that I won't look to replicate! Disappointing, as a restaurant that can't get basic customer service right (answering the phone), it's safe to say, I won't taking the plunge and stepping through the door. Ill stick to what I know next time.
The order was placed online, directly on...
Read moreThe all you can eat menu was quite simply astonishing. I have never been served personally by a waiter or waitress who personally shreds the duck in front of my eyes nor have I had (who I presume was) the manager serve the noodles directly to my plate from the serving dish.
It may not look like much from outside, and I'll admit it was a bit of a punt, but even though it is slightly more expensive than Buffet Island (approx £17pp) it is more than worth it for the more authentic Chinese food in a restaurant where the food is made to order rather than made to retain some modicum of flavour while it bakes under canteen lamps.
The food itself was delicious and this means that the slightly unnerving stipulation that you should finish a dish before the next one will be brought to you is made somewhat redundant. Also, the choice of dishes within the A.Y.C.E menu was surprisingly reasonable and the bean curd (tofu) was cooked fantastically and would not disappoint any vegetarians. I can honestly say that although I am limited in my experience of chinese cuisine this is by far the best in the area and has shown a very different side to the more usual perception of chinese as merely a "take-away food".
I'll admit that we visited the restaurant on a weekday but the all you can eat menu operates before the busiest times and would be well worth going into work tired the...
Read moreTitle: Average Experience with Potential for Improvement
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
My recent visit to Furma Palace Chinese Restaurant left me with mixed feelings. While the service was undoubtedly exceptional, with a special mention to the overworked waitress who managed to maintain a pleasant demeanor throughout, other aspects of the dining experience fell short.
Upon entering, the ambiance was lackluster. The seating arrangement resembled more of a cafe setting, devoid of any table linen or decorative touches to enhance the atmosphere. The overall aesthetic felt somewhat uninspired, failing to create the inviting environment one would expect from a Chinese restaurant.
Furthermore, the exterior of the establishment gave off the impression of a supermarket rather than a dining destination, which was somewhat off-putting.
As for the food, it was passable. While there were no major complaints, there was also nothing particularly memorable or noteworthy about the dishes. They fell squarely into the realm of average, lacking the wow factor that sets apart exceptional Chinese cuisine.
In conclusion, while Furma Palace Chinese Restaurant excels in service, there is definite room for improvement in terms of ambiance and culinary offerings. With some attention to enhancing the overall dining experience, this establishment has the potential to elevate itself to a...
