The Embankment — Restaurant in Stratford-on-Avon

We had a very disappointing experience that was saved by a lovely waitress , we didn’t get her name but it was her first day working at the restaurant and she was Australian. We booked an Igloo well in advance and paid a deposit for a meal for 5 to celebrate a family birthday When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted by a member of staff that looked totally confused when we told him we had booked an igloo , he appeared to have no idea what we were talking about and asked us if we wanted table 25 ! While we were trying to figure if we were at the correct venue he then told us that they were only serving pizza There was no explanation , no apologies, no awareness of our booking details After a discussion between ourselves we decided to sit inside and make the most of the situation . My sister was upset and frustrated as it was her 60 th. Birthday celebrations with her family Then appeared the totally lovely member of staff that really made us feel understood and couldn’t have done more to make our lunch a really happy and enjoyable celebration We were also given a complimentary round of drinks which was much appreciated We were later told that the igloos were removed 6 weeks ago so wonder why we were not contacted And as we had a booking and paid a deposit why were we not contacted to advise us that due to a lack of staff and no management that day the menu was limited to pizza The restaurant is in a lovely position next to the river and we did enjoy our afternoon in spite of the...

Absolutely shocking. On entrance the man on the scooter made us feel welcome and we went and found a table as instructed. However 20 minutes later we still hadn’t been acknowledged by any of the waiting staff, we had no menus provided and were not offered drinks. I managed to catch the attention of one guy as he walked past me and he said he would be right back to us. He then disappeared inside and came out 5 minutes later and went the opposite direction moving on to serve other (newer customers who sat down after us!). Eventually 35 minutes after sitting down someone came and gave us menus and took our drinks order, after a further 15 minutes waiting for the drinks and watching them come out with them on another tables drinks tray then taking ours back in and coming out to take an order off someone else we decided enough is enough and left. Although it was busy, they had 5 staff in and out, (some younger ones looking lost at times and even after being directed to serve the area we were sat at, still not venturing towards us), tables still vacant and an obviously reduced menu. No excuse or reason for such bad service. The place was unorganised, I found the staff to be quite unprofessional, especially the long haired guy who explained to another table that “he had told them not to open this section of the seating area”. Very disappointed with my experience. QR code menu needs to be updated or Photos need to be added next to the item as everything we ordered came out different to what we expected. There are no cold coffee options on the menu but I ordered a latte and asked for and Iced latte and they obliged which was good although it was served without a straw, spoon or suger which i needed to get myself. Ordered a Berry Punch cocktail (pink rum and berry coulis) and what we recieved was some sort or passion fruit and prosecco cocktail. We asked if it was the wrong order and the staff confirmed it was the correct one but they were missing an ingredient in stock and didnt bother to tell us. In response they did make us another berry cocktail on the house , but 20 minutes later I saw the correct cocktail we ordered get served to the table adjacent to us which made me laugh. We then ordered 2 chicken burrito bowls, it was obvious the chicken in the dish was the pre-made pre-sliced packeted chicken you would buy from Sainsburys, and on the menu it cleary said the dish was served with tomato salsa but what we received was some sort of thinly sliced packeted tomato crisps.
