We opted to eat from the all day menu as this has a selection of small plates to choose from. Here’s what we ordered for three people…
Pan-fried Wild Scallops which came with fennel, saffron veloute, risotto, green pesto. The scallops were nicely cooked, they remained juicy with a lovely searing. The risotto was a colourful yellow, was well flavoured with a good moist texture. The little red sweet peppers (at least that’s what I think they were) also added another pop of flavour (and colour) to the plate.
Chipotle Sticky Chicken which was karaage fried chicken with a smoky chilli jam. When we were considering ordering this, I did have a fleeting concern that it could be quite spicy. As it turned out I didn’t need to be wary, the sauce was nicely sweet and sticky with a mild hint of smokiness and heat. The chicken could have been cooked a little bit less so that it was slightly more succulent but overall it was a good dish.
Sticky Beef Dumpling accompanied with soy sauce & chilli dressing, black onion seed and pink pickled onion. When this arrived it definitely wasn’t what I had envisaged. The menu accurately describes what was served, but I think in my head when I read dumpling, I thought that I was going to be eating dim sum or gyoza. The dumpling outer was made of some form of pastry, which was fairly thick – almost like a scone pastry. I personally thought it could have been a little thinner as the pastry to beef ratio was little too much in favour of the pastry. The combination of the sauce, which was maybe crème fraiche, the pickled onion and the sticky beef were nice. This was the least favourite of dishes that I tried, it was fairly good but I probably wouldn’t order again if I return here.
Pan-fried king prawns with chilli & feta. The prawns were served in a tomato & chipotle chilli sauce, with lemon gremolata, a rosemary pangrattato crumb and ciabatta. I’m not keen on feta but my dining companions seemed to enjoy.
All the portions of food were generous and enough to feed the three of us without feeling overly full.
The service throughout was efficient...
Read moreLast weekend, our group of 20 stags descended upon Encore in Stratford-upon-Avon, and it turned out to be the most memorable experience of the entire stag weekend. The restaurant effortlessly catered to our large group, providing delicious food, flowing drinks, and an atmosphere that encouraged a little bit of mischief.
The evening began with a fantastic array of dishes that satisfied everyone in our group. The menu was diverse, and the quality of the food was excellent. The staff were attentive, ensuring our glasses were never empty and our plates were always full. They handled our lively group with patience and good humor, setting the tone for what would become a truly unforgettable night.
Now, the highlight: As the drinks continued to flow and the evening escalated, half of our group decided to engage in a rather unconventional activity—sitting on the floor, pretending to be slugs, while the rest of us sprinkled salt over them. It might sound absurd, but in the spirit of the stag weekend, it was absolutely hilarious. The restaurant staff, instead of being alarmed, embraced the silliness, even offering extra salt shakers to keep the fun going. Their willingness to join in and not only tolerate but enhance our experience speaks volumes about their commitment to customer satisfaction.
Encore provided the perfect setting for a night of great food, laughter, and memories that will be recounted at every future reunion. If you’re looking for a restaurant that combines excellent service, top-notch food, and a staff that knows how to handle a group of lively stags, Encore is the place to go. We couldn’t have asked for a better night, and the “slug salting” will forever be remembered as the pinnacle of...
Read moreMy fiance and I had an AMAZING meal here this evening... the staff were really friendly and also professional. When we arrived a member of staff asked if I'd like the ramp as I'm a wheelchair user which was really nice because we haven't been offered that elsewhere before. The food was honestly the best food we've ever had out, we both also tried something new that came with our meal which was nice. I did under estimate the size of a starter being "for the table" and we brought 3 courses so asked for a take out box for my pizzette so I can finish it later. The portions were decent sizes, they were quite big and 100% worth the money, we got what we ordered except it came better than expected.
My fiance had; the squid as a starter which he thoroughly enjoyed and it was his first time having the sauce it came with which he also enjoyed, for mains he had the lamb rump which he loved, for desert he had the chocolate brownie which was also nice.
I had: the pizzette as a starter which tasted gorgeous, I took some back home with me because it was a for the table dish and I didnt want to get full up on it before mains, for mains I had pork belly and omg it was the best thing I have ever eaten! And then for desert I had the chocolate bomb which came with ginger, chocolate brownie (i think) and had raspberries in, also came with some chocolate sauce to melt the chocolate bomb with, it was such a fun and delicious desert.
We will definitely be coming back again!
Tonight we were taken care of by Deon, Quade and Georgia and they were all amazing, so thankyou so much for the wonderful food, we had a really good time and I'm so glad we chose to come here... honestly the best service we've...
