In the literal middle of the Cotswolds, is a pub run by a Londoner who's a proper publican, with a family run Palestinian kitchen serving what can only be described as the most colourful and tasty food I've eaten in a long time. The menu, is only a handful of dishes but you know that means it's all fresh as it can come. And fresh it really is. Though there were only two of us we, ordered 3 mains just to try the delights on offer. Mujaddara is something new, a ricey, nuttle flavour bomb, that you can guarantee has been passed down to the chef from his mother. It has such a home cooked feel. The shawrmer was stunning as was all the falafel and the sweet treats of Baklawa. All when the most expensive thing on the menu is 14 quid. Our food came to 45 quid, for 3 mains a side salad and Baklawa! Proper food by proper people.

Pretty noisy boisterous groups of lads in the covered patio out front, but the interior was quiet if not a bit hot on a summer afternoon. Beer selection is limited but service is friendly and the Pakistani food upstairs is outstanding and they bring it to your table after you order.

Came to Nailsworth for the football but decided to book an Airbnb and make a weekend of it. Popped in here for a pint and pizza in the evening and had a lovely time. Pizza was great, people were friendly. We’d definitely pop back in if we were in the area again :-)

We visited the George for a Sunday roast and were allocated a draughty and noisy table by the entrance door. We asked if we could be moved to another empty table and the barman said 'no'. The waitress was most pleasant and the meal arrived promptly. Unfortunately each plate consisted of a small overcooked chunk of pork with little meat and mostly fat, greasy roast potatoes, and undercooked vegetables. We were asked if everything was OK and offered replacements but it was too late. The barman did not charge for the glass of wine and lemonade but insisted on charging £26 in full for the uneaten food. Such a pity because we like to support local independent restaurants and over the years have enjoyed excellent meals at the George. I hope they listen and realise they need to get their act together if they are to succeed: to offer good food, good service and good...

Went here on the back of lots of good reviews. Was going to the match & had planned the whole day. There were 8 of us & we had checked the website for opening times, which shows 12 midday on a Saturday. We arrived at 12:10 to closed doors. The gentleman inside said he was not opening until 1pm. A lady (the landlady?) leant out of an upstairs window & said to come on in. We tried again to get in through the front door & the same chap very rudely told us that we definitely couldn't come in until 1. We gave up, went straight to the ground & spent our money up there. We are not a bunch of rowdy football fans out for trouble, we are just 8 people who like to have a few decent beers before the game in a decent pub. Sorry George, but you lost out on about £130 and also earnt yourselves bad reviews on here, trip advisor and the football league...
