02/05/2025:- Stuck to traditional Asian curries tonight and all were delicious. New photos added. The restaurant's decor is looking alittle tired now, peeling paint etc., and needs some TLC. 20/01/2024: Went with friends for dinner and all our meals were absolutely excellent - hence giving the food an extra star! 🌟 The seabass and lamb shank, altho' not particularly Indian but rather a nod to European preferences, were beyond good and the fusion of cuisines really worked. I've added a new photo. Excellent Indian/Bangladeshi cuisine. Generous portions and the meat was properly cooked as it should be in the individual sauces. Such a rarity these days where most Asian restaurants precook the meat which is then simply added to a particular sauce. One criticism is the selection of pickles that consist of a small bowl of raw chopped onion and 2 yogurt-based sauces - one yellow and very mild and the other red and alittle spicy. Definitely not "pickles" and not worth the money...be warned! The staff were lovely - welcoming and very helpful. The restaurant and loos were clean. FYI Zaika home delivers over quite a wide area. We live the other side of Stroud to Stonehouse and they deliver along our lane. A word of warning, don't order too much - the portions are huge! Zaika is excellent value for money as it's unlicensed and you can take your own booze (there's a Co-op nearby that sells chilled wines and beers) and Zaika doesn't charge corkage. The service charge is less than 10% for an excellent service from the waiters. There are parking bays with no parking restrictions on the street.

This Indian restaurant offers an authentic taste of India with its flavorful dishes and warm hospitality. The menu features a wide array of classic curries, tandoori specialties, biryanis, and more. The lamb rogan josh is a standout - rich and deeply spiced with the perfect amount of heat. The garlic naan is also outstanding, arriving piping hot and fresh from the tandoor oven. Vegetarians will be delighted by the extensive selection of meat-free options like chana masala and baingan bharta. The dining room has a cozy, inviting ambiance with white tablecloths and subtle Indian decor. Service is attentive and the servers are happy to provide recommendations tailored to your tastes. Overall, Zaika is a top choice for delicious Indian cuisine in the Stroud area. The high-quality food, lovely atmosphere, and friendly service make it well worth a visit.

Wow. A friend and I have been walking the Thames and Severn Way and we stayed in Stonehouse. Play a word association game: Stonehouse - hot curry now does it for both of us. We both ordered different Madras curries and were blown away - far from the usual insipid curry this was a burning cauldron of hot excitement. Fab-u-lous. This is the best and most fiery curry I gave had in many years. I'd you like spice (and flavour) give it a go. My friend Richard (in photo) has just melted and I will take him back to our accommodation in liquid form.

Came to Stroud to visit a friend and having looked around Stroud and the surrounding areas for a decent Indian restaurant decided to go to Zaika for dinner...

I must congratulate the team at Zaika for their authentic and flavour packed cuisine....

We started off with fish pakore and sheek kebab that came out served beautifully, perfectly cooked and each morsel melted in the mouth....

For mains we chose Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken as it is more commonly known) and Paneer Balti with Butter Naan bread.... Again I'm very fussy about my Butter Chicken and will order it wherever I go and for the team at Zaika to get it right first time shows they pay detailed attention to customer requests and requirements... The Paneer Balti was a special request for a vegetarian friend which we all shared and this too was lip smackingly delicious. Both dishes were complimented wonderfully by crunchy and fluffy generously sized naan buttered to perfection!!!

Our savoury palettes well and truly satisfied, we plumped for Pistachio Kulfi for dessert which was a wonderful and light confection which left our sweet tooths satisfied and refreshed!!

Only three friends this time but whenever I'm back in Stroud or the surrounding areas I will definitely be back to Zaika....

Rudy and his team were polite and friendly and took time to interact with not only us but all the other patrons in a convivial and jovial manner....

Thank you so much for a wonderful dining experience...
