Upon entering the hotel, I was greeted warmly by the attentive staff, who went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout my stay. Their professionalism, friendliness, and genuine willingness to assist with any request made me feel instantly welcome and pampered.
The room I stayed in was beautifully appointed, blending classic elegance with modern amenities. The attention to detail was evident, from the plush bedding and luxurious linens to the tasteful decor that exuded a sense of warmth and refinement. I particularly appreciated the stunning views of the landscaped gardens and the River Frome, which added a touch of tranquility to my stay.
Dining at the hotel's restaurant was a culinary delight. The menu showcased a delectable array of dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients, expertly prepared by a talented team of chefs. Every meal I enjoyed was a feast for the senses, combining exquisite flavors, artistic presentation, and impeccable service. The staff's knowledge of the menu and their ability to recommend the perfect wine pairings further enhanced my dining experience.
During my stay, I took the opportunity to explore the hotel's extensive grounds, and I was enchanted by the natural beauty that surrounded me. The meticulously maintained gardens provided a serene sanctuary where I could unwind, take leisurely strolls, and soak in the captivating scenery. The hotel's proximity to notable attractions in the Cotswolds, such as Painswick Rococo Garden and Gloucester Cathedral, further added to the allure of my stay.

Read morewe booked many months ago for a wedding being held at the hotel, the hotel were aware we are booking for this wedding but decided not to inform us we could pay extra for early arrival, we travelled two hours and arrived at 11,40, room wasn't yet ready we were told so please take a seat and if you like you can get a drink, she said the room should be ready 12-12:30, we waited at the bar for nobody to arrive, we then asked reception if they could call someone, 12:30 came and we saw people arrive and check in this is how we found out you could book in early, we asked again after our room and was told not quite ready so we sat back down, the wedding was at 14:00 so we were now quite anxious and i was getting annoyed, 13:15 i asked again and at this point she decided to tell us that 3pm was the guaranteed time, i was extremely annoyed that she hadn't told us this before as we have family in the area and could have changed at one of their homes, it was now to late, no point in complaining as i overheard the lady tell another guest that her daughter was now her manager so no prizes for guessing who the manager would support, we managed to change in another wedding guests room just in time, somebody tell this lady COMMUNICATION is key please, mind you she really didn't seem bothered in the slightest, drinks are really expensive, we ordered 1 tea, 1 lager and 1 J2o which cost £13.55, wedding was lovely however by the time the final table got to the BBQ there was no salad or veggie skewers left, not my problem as we were not on that table, our room was large the beds were comfy but the pillows not so much ( i appreciate this is a very personnel choice ) the shower was awful literally no pressure not even enough to wash my hair and I HAVE NO HAIR, the hot tap on the basin spun around and i don't mean the handle, bathroom had mold on the ceiling and is in need of attention, at breakfast the plates on the hot stacker with a lid on were dirty ( we removed three dirty ones to find three clean ) cups on the table were dirty, some on the inside some on the outside as were the glasses, even the clean plates had dry food on the undersides ( you could feel it ) hot food was tasty but again by the time my wife got to the mushrooms there were four left, if you wanted fried eggs be prepared for a long long wait, we didn't bother, generally the staff were friendly and the grounds are lovely also not expensive to stay if you don't drink at the bar ( bring your own ) unfortunately after our long drive to be met with what we were met with just set the entire stay on a sour note, maybe for wedding guests were you know they are going to a wedding that starts at 14:00 offer them a place to change even if it's a non made up room, you must have some space for this or TELL THEM THEY CAN PAY EXTRA TO...
Read moreWe booked this hotel for a romantic night away in the Cotswolds. The main building is a beautiful Tudor mansion and looked very impressive. When we checked in the receptionist directed us to our room which turned out to be a long way from the main hotel down various corridors in the garden wing. This part of the hotel looked shabby, most of the door frames were only partially painted and there was an odd smell in the air. When we eventually got to our room it was very dark and gloomy, the double glazed window was completely misted up and there were stains on the carpet. We called down to reception as we weren't happy with the condition of the room, and they kindly moved us to a room in the main hotel which was much nicer, however it did feature a toilet seat which refused to stay up which is always regrettable. After all this we needed a drink, so headed to the bar where a very stressed barman was taking a very large drinks order. This took about twenty minutes, after which the barman disappeared. A waitress filled in for him and asked if anyone needed serving, however as she was under 18 she was unable to serve any drinks after all. She informed the crowded and somewhat tired bar that the barman would return "in about five minutes". Having eventually got our drinks five minutes later, we were free to explore the hotel grounds. This was probably the highlight of the trip as the grounds were beautiful and there is a canal at the bottom of the garden. Later we went down for dinner and ordered some food. The restaurant was fairly busy and it was obvious something was amiss as no-one seemed to be getting any food. There was a large group sat next to us who were there for a special occasion, none of them got to eat at the same time and the waiting staff kept apologising and topping up their drinks. Apparently there was some sort of technical issue in the kitchen. After 55 minutes we got our starters and to be fair they were really nice, as was the beef shin main. Just a bit disappointing we had to wait so long. The next morning we mentioned this to the receptionist and she kindly took the evening's drinks off our bill. In the end Stonehouse Court seems like a hotel with great potential, but unfortunately feels sloppy and disorganised in its current state. The staff were all lovely, but there seem to be some serious management issues that need addressing before this potential can be reached. Also the garden wing needs some serious refurbishment to be a nice part of the hotel. I wouldn't stay here again, but our stay was quite...
