City Tea Rooms — Restaurant in Sunderland

Food took ages to arrive, no social distancing, no limiting numbers, very pricey and then ripped of! Ordered 2 meals and desserts, got 2 halfs of a meal as missing most and then 1 dessert! Asked about other and was told it wasn't ordered when it clearly was on the paper work. They only take card over £5 so had to spend more money to get the dessert I was missing! The staff should check things better for saying you haven't done something. As they say the customer is always right! Will not be going back and for the social distancing or limiting it was a joke! No such thing in this place! The staff was so slow too and the food was all to hot to eat as a fast meal...

Called in Saturday morning for a late breakfast for my son and a snack for me and my wife, plenty of food on offer on their menus, and pies and cakes look like they made on premises as looks home made, ordered food and it arrived less than 10min which was good, a full breakfast cost about five pounds well worth it, I had a corned beef square and that was tasty, my wife had a piece of cake again no complaints, overall a good visit, worth a pop in if you...

Its so nice to go to an actual cafe where you eat off a plate - with a knife and fork! No eating out of bags, boxes, buckets or off trays, slates, chopping boards..... Traditional style. cosy. Good plain fayre. Their mince and dumplings is to die for!!Takeaway options too. Down to earth friendly staff.Prices reasonable.
