Staff member was incredibly rude for no reason at all. We ordered a drink but she came over saying we couldn't have that and asked what we wanted instead. We said we would have a think about it which is acceptable but she wasn't happy. She stormed off before I could ask her a question. I got up to speak to her and she was incredibly rude and defensive. All I wanted to know was if I would be getting a refund since I had been charged for 2 drinks we weren't getting. She was really nasty and didn't answer me properly but I finally managed to get an answer but I later found out she had no intention to refund me even though she said she would.
She came back shortly afterwards and aggressively asked us what we wanted, we said we still weren't sure which made her make an embarrassing childish performance. She flung her body around and shook her head while making disapproving sounds then after walking a bit she turned around and glared at us. I don't understand why she lied to us about refunding us and them demanded us to buy bottle drinks instead of what she wanted. She was really pushing those bottles onto us. It was a very strange experience.
That woman has some serious issues. You shouldn't take you're problems out on...
Read moreIt was match day and a frisson of excitement and expectation played across the faces of each and every black cat fan. We entered this Wetherspoon slightly daunted by the highly spirited, roaring badinage from the loyal Sunderland supporters who flocked together in groups necking their drinks and getting themselves in the mood for the game. Upon finding a table and divesting ourselves of our coats we scrutinised the menu carefully, the mother in law opting for the soup dujour (broccoli and Stilton) and myself and the wife going for the freshly baked veggie pizza, which along with a small round of drinks cashed up at a economical £12. We soaked up the sophisticated atmosphere and eavesdropped on the intellectual musings of our sporty companions as we made short work of our repast, which was pleasing to the taste buds as well as the purse. I highly recommend this hostelry, which I think may be Sunderland's most sophisticated...
Read moreWasn't allowed to order food as for some reason, they have a policy whereby you're not allowed to wear jogging bottoms there after 9pm. I could understand if it were a night club or an upmarket restaurant but it is neither of those. I felt singled out and embarrassed, there was no notice on the door informing customers of this rule so they wait I told you have entered only to turn you away in front of other customers. I felt humiliated to say the least. Walked up the road to the Cooper Rose where I was served with no problems, I told the lady serving what had happened and she couldn't believe it! It's a shame as I'm a regular customer at Wetherspoon's and have never had any real issues in the past. However, this branch has let your company down by stereotyping individuals. Seems to me that rather than moving forwards, this branch is moving backwards. Needless to say until this issue is addressed, I won't...
