Very impressed is an understatement. Such an incredible cafe! If I lived more local I’d be in everyday! This cafe is amazing, it’s so refreshing to feel at ease with the cafe catering to allergens to an exemplary standard. It’s a coeliac’s dream! All the food was very delicious, the cheese scone was superb! Best gluten free scone I’ve had - the texture was perfect, better than a lot gluten scones. The soup was delightful - flavoursome and spicy! Perfect was a cold Autumn day. Both the tea and coffee were excellent quality, and as for the cake… phenomenal! Don’t think I’ve had a Victoria sponge full of so much depth and flavour. The cafe is affordable, which is great, especially as lots of places sometimes charge extra for gluten free. The cafe was spotlessly clean, with a relaxing atmosphere. The owner was wonderful too - very friendly and accommodating! It’s such a fantastic business! I really hope to see it go far, I’ll be recommending to everyone I know, and will return!

I found this delightful spot on an app that suggests GF friendly places, not only is this cafe super cute and nice, it has food for everyone made with care and appreciation. You don’t need to worry if you have no allergies or intolerances, ALL the food is great, but having somewhere you can go with pals that might do and everyone feel included (even your doggies) is so nice. Worth mentioning that the prices are VERY reasonable and affordable, there’s even an afternoon special on the cakes and a hot drink that is unbeatable!! We had to check the bill to be sure they hadn’t missed anything. The food was delicious and homemade cakes.. WOW!!! Plus they change all the time, I know this cos I ended up popping back each day whilst I was in the area and every day had a different treat, yum! Deffo check out this place, and support independent businesses.

Another lovely meal here yesterday, I had a ham, cheese and tomato panini and my daughter had a steak sandwich. Both came with salad and we added a portion of chips each because they're SO good! As usual, both the food and the service was excellent, as were the prices. My daughter is coeliac and can relax here, knowing how well they cater for allergies, and that she doesn't have to worry about cross contamination. As usual, she also got some gluten free goodies to take home, a cheese & bacon scone that she said was amazing (I didn't even get a crumb!) and a delicious raspberry and white chocolate brownie - I got one of those for myself so can confirm how good it was 😊 I'd highly recommend checking this place out, you won't be disappointed.

I went to the Seaglass Cafe around 9:40am looking for one open. To my relief I found it was a Great cafe.

One of the reasons I choose the Cafe was the reviews trying to find one on Google and the fact that it opened much earlier than any others (8:30am). I reviews for three closed cafes searching.

The cafe was nicely laid out with a Christmas tree and appropriate decorations. Menus, kids colouring and crayons also provided.

There was little atmosphere as I was the only one there. There is not much the cafe can do about it, so let's just say it was peaceful.

The staff member who I think was also the cook came out and was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a full breakfast and found you also got a filter coffee with it for £10. Good value. I was also surprised to find he asked how strong I like the coffee. I like coffee strong so he suggested Taylor's Hot Lava Java. That level of type of coffee expertise is something I had never had before in any cafe shop. When the coffee came out it was great.

When the breakfast came out I was impressed with the quality. The sausages were the star of the show. Premium Lincoln Sausages (I think). My only issue was the hash browns weren't very crispy and a very light colour of cooked. I immediately thought of bringing the family as they had a kids menu, but thought about the great sausages (what kids want) and thought better not as they only eat plain pork. If they offer them I would bring the kids. I would have to say it's the best breakfast I have eaten recently in Sunderland city centre.

One review that struck me before going was about the cakes been hidden down the back of the cafe and to change the layout that the owner suggested cannot be done due to it being a listed building and the layout. I remember when another cafe that was open way back in a building g next to it and remember the seating suffered having the counter at the front. I would personally also keep the seats where they are. My only suggestion so customers could see the cakes would be to get a tall cake refrigerator shelf unit and put it near the front (where the Christmas tree is?) near the windows at some point.

My only other concern is how small and different the menu writing is in the wall and outside. I would definitely focus on showing the £10 breakfast highlighting the coffee or tea. I even heard someone mentioning it outside when eating my breakfast, but they didn't mention the coffee or tea was included. I didn't see it at a quick glance. You can pay £4 for a coffee in Sunderland and it would definitely get people in if they knew about it with...
