Spice Lounge — Restaurant in Surrey Heath

My family and I have been visiting the Spice Lounge for many years and it's always been our favourite Indian restaurant. On our recent visit however, we were really disappointed. Although the food was still good, we felt the service and the overall ambience was spoilt by the constant hustle and bustle of people collecting takeaways and deliveroo/just eat drivers. The staff were extremely busy dealing with takeaways, the phone was constantly ringing and this left us feeling slightly neglected. We were extremely grateful that we weren't seated near the door because it was constantly in use! We completely understand that restaurants have had to rely upon takeaways to keep their businesses going throughout the pandemic but, surely, this shouldn't be given priority over loyal customers who enjoy eating in the restaurant. I selected the Spice Lounge for it's convenient location for (13/07/13) a Saturday night meeting. The initial impression from the outside was daunting as it's a converted corner shop with parking at the rear. DON'T BE PUT OFF! The interior was clean, modern and with air conditioning. The service was excellent with the staff being exceedingly attentive. The food was authentic and plentiful, in fact, the staff put the remaining food into a bag and there was so much, there is enough for another meal for 2! The cost, 2 mains, 1 rice, 3 bread, 4 poppadoms, 2 sides, 4 pints of Kingfisher shandy, 1 G&T, 1 large bottle of Perrier & 1 coffee....... £50! A total bargain! I'll be back to this...

My partner took me on a date night here this evening. We had been recommended the restaurant by friends. When we got to the restaurant we were greeted by a very friendly waiter, who allowed us to sit wherever we preferred. We chose to have our starter and main come out at the same time so we could just tuck in, which didn't seem to be a problem at all.
