The Miners Arms — Restaurant in Surrey Heath

It takes a special kind of culinary ineptitude to ruin what little menu this pub has to offer... But I must say I was impressed at just how badly they could burn a toastie (we're talking completely Black on both sides) and undercook some chips.

What upset me was that they served this to my 4 year old daughter and were actually surprised that I didn't want it cremated. The words "Oh, that's just how they come" we're unapologetically used in a very nonchalant way... Like, that's the normal everywhere!

The bar itself was nothing to write home about... Classic grimy, wet floor bathrooms (which I hope was water) and the unhygienic looking kitchen staff...

If all you want is a beer, this place is as good as any, but it definitely is NOT a family place for children, or for that matter, anyone you don't want to catch salmonella.

Do yourself a favour and get to the Rose and Thistle, which is 5 mins walk and 2 mins drive round the corner! Food is excellent, it's clean, the staff are friendly... Now THAT is a classy place which I've taken my friends and family to, and will continue to do so. (fyi - I am in no way affiliated with Rose and Thistle, I'm just a fan!).

Worst lodge I had ever been. It is basically a pub with a room to sleepover. Went there for a 2 pm checkin and the bar was locked. The bartender is the receptionist. She just handed over the key and that's it! Had to go backa nd wait there to get the Wifi password. Utter slow internet. The heater was working the whole day at maximum and was unable to turn it off and at night it went off adding to the misery. The only pros was the toilet was clean and had a decent price which I still believe is not worth. Couldn't sleep the whole night as there was sound from the bar the whole night!! And the worst one was they did not have an ironbox. I was having an interview the next day and they just said they don't have and offered no help. I bet they are the only lodge having no ironbox. Booked this room as this was the only option near to the company I went as all the other hotels and rooms were already booked due to some big event on the same day. NOT TO BE TRUSTED I booked the Miners Arm’s function room at the end of September. They let it slip in mid November that they had another Birthday party booked on the same night in the bar area. I questioned them at the time as to whether they could cope, they assured me they could. Then 3 days before Christmas they cancelled my booking!!!Initially claiming they hadn’t realised they had double booked which wasn’t true, as they told me themselves in November about the other booking. Once this was pointed out to them, their attitude changed to, “they could do what they liked” - their words! If they had told me in November at least I could have re-arranged things but to be told 3 days before Christmas Day was extremely stressful trying to find a new venue for 80 guests!
