ISTANBUL SHAWARMA — Restaurant in Tameside

Honestly kind of gutted. Been here a few times now and it's always been absolutely amazing, really good fresh high quality shawarma with delicious sides. Today though, I brought my family to try it too.

From the moment we stepped in the staff seemed different, much less friendly and welcoming, even sort of cold and depressed. I'm not sure if the staff were just having a bad day, but it bled into the quality of the food. A homeless bloke had to be handled by staff and kicked out for harassing customers, but I overheard that they'd already fed him - a very nice gesture that he seemed to have taken advantage of.

No lamb left - it's usually AMAZING, the chicken was bland, barely put any sauce on at all, the cheesy garlic bread was devoid of any flavour, barely any red salt on the slightly undercooked chips, and the jalapeno poppers were absolutely massacred; they weren't poppers anymore but just smeared filling spread all over the box and scattered remnants of breadcrumb with a thin, rock solid slice of brown jalapeno. I think they must've exploded and the jalapeno got nuked.

Still left 4 stars in the hope that the staff were just having a really, really bad day because usually it's been genuinely amazing. Hopefully it returns to being as incredibly as it usually is when I next visit. To the staff - hope...

Had our “Friday” night takeaway from MDK 29th. OMDays I was impressed. The previous shop/owner came highly recommended, but I would have gave a 1 star, at most. MDK on the other hand was a 5+ all day long. Prepared properly and in the time frame they said whilst ordering(annoys me when shops say a time you get there and stood 15/20 minutes🤬) MDK was brilliant. My girls are very fussy so for them to be as impressed speaks volumes. Would 100% recommend for anyone. Whoever runs/owns the place has done a very good...

I went into the store and ordered 2 chicken shawarmas, one with chips and one with naan. They packed the order in front of me, but when I got home, I realized they completely missed the naan. I tried calling the store multiple times, but no one answered. This level of incompetence is unacceptable. Extremely disappointing service – I won’t be ordering...
